Role Description
The Equity Specialist is responsible for executing equity trades on behalf of high-net-worth clients across global markets during assigned trading hours.
This role requires deep market knowledge, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to make rapid trading decisions while maintaining strict risk management protocols. The successful candidate will work closely with Relationship Managers and clients to deliver optimal trade execution and market insights.
Responsibilities
Online Trading Platform Management
Oversee daily operations and functionality of Nomura's online equity trading platforms
Monitor platform performance, identify technical issues, and coordinate with IT teams for prompt resolution
Conduct regular testing of platform features, order types, and execution workflows to ensure optimal functionality
Manage platform user access, permissions, and security protocols in compliance with regulatory requirements
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients and Relationship Managers using online trading platforms
Develop and maintain user guides, training materials, and best practice documentation for platform usage
Analyze platform usage data and client feedback to identify enhancement opportunities
Coordinate platform upgrades, new feature rollouts, and system maintenance schedules
Ensure platform compliance with MAS regulations and internal control standards
Liaise with platform vendors and technology teams to implement improvements and resolve issues
Trade Execution and Market Operations
Execute equity trades across Asian, European, and US markets during day trading sessions via both online platforms and traditional channels
Monitor real-time market conditions and provide timely market updates to Relationship Managers and clients
Analyze market trends, company announcements, and economic indicators to support trading decisions
Manage order flow across multiple channels (online platform, Avaloq, EMSX, phone, email) and optimize trade execution to achieve best outcomes for clients
Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding trade execution, platform functionality, and market conditions
Risk Management and Compliance
Maintain accurate trade records across all execution channels and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Monitor online trading platform limits, controls, and risk parameters
Ensure adherence to internal risk management policies and trading limits for both manual and electronic executions
Conduct regular audits of platform transactions and controls
Stay current with regulatory changes affecting equity trading and online trading platforms in Singapore
Collaboration and Development
Build and maintain relationships with brokers, market makers, liquidity providers, and platform vendors
Participate in daily market briefings and contribute to team knowledge sharing
Support the onboarding and training of clients, Relationship Managers, and junior team members on platform usage
Contribute to the evaluation and selection of new trading technologies and platform enhancements
Requirements
Minimum Degree in Finance or Economics
Minimum 3 years of experience in equity trading or dealing within a financial institution
Holds a valid Capital Markets Services (CMS) license for dealing in Securities issue by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Proficiency in Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters Eikon, or similar market data systems
Strong knowledge of equity markets, trading platforms, and execution strategies
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in fast-moving markets
Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
Strong communication skills
Ability to work flexible hours including night shifts to cover global market trading hours
