Senior Data Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Search Engineer to join our Core Engineering team.

We are seeking an analytical, self-driven, and passionate Senior Search Engineer with expertise in Apache Solr, Apache Lucene, Lucidworks, Java, and Enterprise Search technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong software development skills, experience solving complex search-related challenges, and the ability to work directly with customers to design, implement, and optimize enterprise search solutions.

What you’ll do:

Provide expert-level Solr and Lucene consulting and development services to a wide range of customers.

Engage with different stakeholders within an organization to understand the information problems they are facing.

Observe and identify customer pain points, priorities, requirements, and success criteria.

Study, research, and resolve complex issues involving Solr, Lucene, and related technologies.

Create reusable solutions, components, recipes, and accelerators. Experience with Lucidworks Search is highly desirable.

Communicate customer requirements and use cases effectively with Product and Engineering teams.

Your qualifications

Technical:

Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of full-time industry experience with strong coding abilities in one or more of the following languages:

Java

Scala

Python

JavaScript

Strong Java/JVM software debugging skills are a plus.

Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, enterprise systems, and asynchronous architectures.

Experience with cloud technologies, preferably Kubernetes-based cloud deployment solutions.

Experience with related open-source technologies such as Solr, Lucene, Kubernetes, etc.

Familiarity with databases, data analysis, ETL concepts, and NoSQL.

Strong organizational and communication skills, including documentation writing and presentations.

Comfortable managing multiple customer engagements simultaneously.

Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior contributors.

Confident working across different industries and use cases while remaining adaptable and flexible.
