Who you are

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Automation & AI team and help build the next generation of intelligent products, platforms, and internal capabilities.

You will work across modern web applications, automation services, agentic workflow platforms, knowledge management solutions, and data pipelines. The role combines strong full-stack software engineering with the opportunity to apply emerging AI technologies to meaningful business and customer problems.

This role is suited to an engineer who enjoys working across system boundaries, is comfortable navigating emerging and ambiguous technical domains, and can turn experiments into secure, reliable, and maintainable production capabilities.

What you will do

Design, build, test, and operate production applications using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL.

Develop backend services, APIs, user interfaces, integrations, and reusable platform capabilities.

Contribute to the design and implementation of automation and agentic workflow platforms.

Build workflow capabilities involving orchestration, scheduling, asynchronous processing, queues, retries, approvals, and human-in-the-loop interactions.

Develop knowledge management services that ingest, process, index, search, and retrieve structured and unstructured content.

Integrate large language models and other AI services into production applications and workflows.

Design and maintain batch, event-driven, and near-real-time data pipelines.

Integrate with internal and third-party platforms through APIs, webhooks, events, and other integration patterns.

Define measurable success criteria and evaluation approaches for AI, retrieval, automation, and application quality.

Implement appropriate security, privacy, permissions, auditing, and governance controls.

Build automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end tests.

Contribute to technical designs, architectural decisions, code reviews, and engineering standards.

Evaluate emerging technologies pragmatically and determine when AI, conventional software, or process automation is the most appropriate solution.

Take ownership of capabilities throughout their lifecycle, from discovery and experimentation through delivery, operation, and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need

Advanced TypeScript and Node.js development experience

Strong React experience, including component design, state management, data fetching, and frontend performance

Experience designing scalable backend services and reusable platform capabilities

Experience building workflow, rules, orchestration, or automation systems

Understanding of asynchronous processing, queues, retries, scheduling, idempotency, and distributed system failure modes

Experience integrating third-party platforms, APIs, webhooks, and enterprise systems

Strong API and domain modelling skills

Experience implementing authentication, authorisation, secrets management, and tenant-aware application design

Experience with automated unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing

Experience with production monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and incident troubleshooting

Ability to balance rapid experimentation with platform reliability, security, and maintainability

Some ‘nice to haves’

Experience with workflow engines or orchestration frameworks

Experience building internal developer platforms or extensible plugin-based systems

Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, tool-calling patterns, and human-in-the-loop workflows

Experience with WebSockets, streaming APIs, or real-time application patterns

Experience in a SaaS or multi-tenant product environment
