The Group supplies both retail and commercial flooring markets and has built a strong reputation for reliability, service and long-term customer relationships. Operating across multiple locations, the business combines local market knowledge with group-scale infrastructure across purchasing, logistics, finance, marketing, sales and operations.
Flanagan Flooring Scotland is a long-established and strategically important part of the wider Group. Based in Baillieston, Glasgow, the business serves the Scottish retail and commercial flooring market from a significant regional distribution operation, supported by trade-depot activity and an experienced local team.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Warehouse Manager to support the smooth, safe and efficient running of our warehouse operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on team leader who can balance operational delivery with strong people management, customer service and systems awareness.
Position Purpose
You will assist the Warehouse Manager in leading the warehouse teams, ensuring that daily operations are well organised, compliant and customer focused. The role involves supporting people, processes and systems so that goods are received, stored, picked, dispatched and delivered accurately, safely and on time.

Success in this role will mean helping to run a warehouse operation that is safe, organised, accurate and efficient. The successful candidate will support the Warehouse Manager in keeping daily activity on track, maintaining high standards of stock control and customer service, and helping the team work confidently and consistently. They will be proactive in spotting issues, improving ways of working and ensuring the warehouse and transport teams have the support they need to deliver a reliable service.
Description of Duties
· Support the Warehouse Manager in ensuring the warehouse operates efficiently, safely and to a high standard, with customer satisfaction as a key priority
· Oversee daily warehouse activity, including goods in, picking, packing, dispatch, stock maintenance and inventory accuracy
· Liaise professionally with sales, purchasing, stock control and other departments to resolve day-to-day queries and support effective service delivery
· Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety, ensuring warehouse teams follow company procedures
· Provide practical support and role cover when required, including Cutting Table Operator and Warehouse Operative duties
· Managing the inbound and outbound sampling department alongside the Stock Controllers and Sales Managers
· Assisting with the customer returns process
· Key Holder – responsible for opening and closing the site ensuring the building is safely locked up upon departure as and when required
· Carry out staff meetings, appraisals, onboarding, and training as and when required
· Identify and recommend improvements to tools, equipment, layout, working methods and records to enhance workflow, productivity, quality and efficiency
The jobholder should also perform any other task or activity that falls within the overall scope of the job.
Specific qualities and qualifications required
· Previous experience in a warehouse, transport or distribution environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role
· Strong communication and people-management skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop team members
· Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy, fast-moving environment
· Good working knowledge of warehouse, transport, stock control and health and safety procedures
· Confident decision maker with strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to resolving operational issues
· Good IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office, warehouse management or stock control systems, handheld scanners and digital reporting tools
· Forklift license preferred, ideally including counterbalance and reach truck experience with boom attachment
