We are actively sourcing for an QHSE Apprentice on a full time, permanent basis. Based at our facility in Great Yarmouth, the QHSE Apprentice will support the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) function at the Great Yarmouth site while undertaking a structured development programme.

During Year 1 the apprentice will be primarily based within the QA/QC team, working alongside experienced QA Technicians and QC Inspectors to support inspection activities, quality documentation, and quality assurance processes. This will provide a strong foundation in quality management principles and industry best practices. Year 2 will be building on this experience, the apprentice will spend time working with the Quality Engineer, gaining valuable exposure to project quality assurance, supplier quality management, auditing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Throughout the programme, the apprentice will also provide administrative support across the wider QHSE function, offering a broad introduction to both Quality and Health, Safety & Environmental disciplines. This varied experience will help develop a well-rounded understanding of the business and its quality and compliance requirements.

At the end of the two-year programme, development achievements and future career progression opportunities will be reviewed, with potential pathways considered based on business needs and individual performance.

Duties & Main Responsibilities

QA/QC Support (Year 1 Focus)

Assist the QA Technician and QC Inspector with inspection planning, preparation, and reporting activities.

Support goods-in, in-process and final inspection activities, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.

Help verify documentation such as material certificates, inspection reports, and records (MRBs).

Maintain inspection records, registers, and quality documentation in line with company systems.

Assist in raising and tracking Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and supporting documentation.

Observe and learn inspection techniques, standards, and requirements.

Quality Engineering Exposure (Year 2 Development)

Support the Quality Engineer with project quality assurance activities.

Assist with review of Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and project documentation.

Support analysis of non-conformances and trends.

Help prepare for internal, client and certification audits.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and quality reporting.

QHSE Administrative Support (Ongoing Across Programme)

Provide general administrative support to the QHSE team.

Maintain QHSE databases, trackers, and document control systems.

Support preparation of reports, presentations, and KPI data.

Assist with audit preparation, including collation of evidence and documentation.

Support maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS).

Coordinate and maintain records relating to the broader QHSE function.

HSE Exposure and Support (Year 3 Development)

Assist the HSE team with basic safety and environmental activities.

Support inspections, audits, and site monitoring activities.

Help with preparation and review of risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).

Assist in maintaining incident logs, actions and lessons learned records.

Support HSE inductions and awareness initiatives.

Learning and Development

Actively participate in the apprenticeship programme and complete required academic studies.

Demonstrate a willingness to learn across Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental disciplines.

Engage with mentors within QA/QC, HSE and Quality Engineering roles.

Develop knowledge of industry standards (e.g. ISO 9001) and safe systems of work.

Intended outcomes

Structured development across QA/QC, HSE and Quality Engineering functions.

Formal review at the end of Year 2 to determine next steps and potential career pathway within QHSE

Required

Essential

Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.

Interest in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or HSE disciplines.

Strong organisational and administrative skills.

Good communication skills and willingness to learn.

Desirable

A-levels, BTEC or equivalent in engineering, science, or related subject.

Basic understanding of quality or safety principles (not essential).
