About the role
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Policy Management
● Drive HSE Strategy. Lead the execution, monitoring, and ongoing enhancement of
the company’s Health and Safety Strategy, Policy, and ISO management systems
(ISO 45001)
● Leadership Advisory: Act as the subject matter expert to operational management
and senior leadership, ensuring safety compliance is embedded in all business
planning and operations.
Governance, Documentation & Safe Systems
● Oversee the production, development, review, and validation of all Safe Systems of
Work , Risk Assessments, and Method Statements ensuring strict alignment with
sector schemes and highway safety standards.
● Regulatory Compliance: Maintain comprehensive knowledge of evolving legislation
and ensure HTM operational practices remain compliant.
Incident Management & Emergency Response
● Lead Investigations. Direct and lead root-cause analysis investigations for critical
incidents, lost-time injuries, serious near-misses, and RIDDOR-reportable events.
● Enforce Corrective Actions. Enforce company wide corrective and preventive action
plans, presenting findings and strategic recommendations directly to senior
management.
Performance Analytics & Auditing
● Manage Audit Programs. Design, manage, and oversee the execution of site, depot,
and operational audit schedules to ensure consistent safety standards across all
operational regions.
● KPI & Trend Analysis: Set, measure, and analyze key health and safety performance
metrics (Safety Observation Reports, audit findings, incident rates), presenting
strategic insights and trend reports to senior management
Safety Culture, Engagement & Well-being
● Lead proactive safety campaigns and employee engagement initiatives that elevate
safety culture from reactive compliance to proactive ownership across the workforce.
● Oversee the identification of H&S training needs, design targeted training
interventions, and ensure statutory training obligations are met.
● Lead and company-wide occupational health and mental health initiatives,
fostering employee well-being through structured consultation and support
frameworks.
● Manage the induction programme for new employees and any pro-active health and
safety related internal training or inductions thereafter.

Pay: £46,500.00-£50,000.00 per year

This Other role pays $47k-$50k/yr. Within typical range for other roles in United Kingdom.
