The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Equities Trader to join our team, executing listed securities transactions for institutional and private wealth clients. In this role, you will deliver efficient and accurate trade execution across Australian financial markets, ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations and best execution standards.
Following BMO's future transition to its own trading platforms, the position will have a strong focus on servicing private wealth clients, partnering closely with advisers to deliver timely trade execution, market insights, and exceptional client outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting advisers through expert market intelligence, execution expertise, and a commitment to best-practice trading standards.
You will undertake a range of duties including:
Execute equities and other approved market transactions on behalf of institutional and private wealth client in accordance with client instructions, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Ensure all trades are executed accurately, compliantly and efficiently, achieving best execution outcomes for clients.
Monitor live markets, trading systems and order flows to support timely execution and management of trading risks.
Liaise with advisers, institutional sales teams and operations staff to facilitate seamless trade execution, bookings, allocation and settlement.
Manage and prioritise competing orders while maintaining accurate trade records and audit trails.
Support business continuity arrangements and participate in testing of trading systems and market connectivity.
Following full integration of the BMO trading link, primarily focus on the execution of private wealth client transactions across approved markets.

To be successful in this role you will be able to display the following:
Proven experience in an equities trading, dealer assistant, DTR, Operator or market execution role within a stockbroking, wealth management or financial services environment.
Demonstrated experience executing listed securities transactions on domestic financial markets.
Experience supporting advisers and managing high-volume client order flow.
Understanding of institutional and private wealth trading requirements and market practices.
Experience operating trading platforms, order management systems and market data services.
Strong understanding of regulatory obligations relevant to market participants and trade execution activities.
Experience utilising Algorithmic trade execution is highly regarded by not essential
Experience utilising IRESS trading software is highly regarded by not essential
Designated Trading Representative (DTR) accreditation or the ability to obtain and maintain accreditation.
RG146 desirable but not essential.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business or a related discipline is desirable.
Accredited Derivatives Adviser qualification is highly regarded but not essential.
Additional market, compliance or trading-related certifications will be highly regarded.
