About the role
FTI Consulting's Construction, Projects & Assets (CP&A) Practice is seeking a Consultant or Senior Consultant specializing in Planning and Delay Analysis to join our Mumbai / New Delhi office .
This is a regional role with a primary focus on Asia, offering exposure to complex, high-value construction and infrastructure disputes across diverse markets - with the potential for broader international engagement where project needs arise.
You will work alongside experienced practitioners to deliver planning and delay analysis services to clients navigating some of the most challenging construction disputes in the region. This is an opportunity to build deep technical expertise within a globally recognized expert services firm.
What You’ll Do
Programme & Schedule Analysis
You will develop, monitor , and manage project programmes and schedules, applying rigorous analytical techniques to assess project progress and identify critical path drivers.
Your responsibilities will include evaluating schedule feasibility - including the use of constraints, lags, and logic - and identifying key metrics that inform client decision-making.
Where required, you will reconstruct programmes in Primavera P6 or MS Project to support delay analysis.
You will also assist senior team members in assessing the effects of delaying events on project completion, applying both prospective and retrospective delay analysis methodologies.
Delay Analysis & Claims Support
You will review and analyse project information - including progress reports, programme updates, and formal instructions - to identify and extract key details relating to delays, disruption, and productivity impacts.
This includes organising findings chronologically, assessing applicable delay analysis methodologies against contract requirements, and drafting formal correspondence in support of Extension of Time claims on behalf of clients.
Client & Project Engagement
You will liaise directly with clients to gather necessary project documentation and information, maintaining clear and professional communication throughout.
What You Will Need to Succeed
Basic Qualifications
A minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in construction planning and delay analysis, ideally gained on major projects or within a disputes/advisory context.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify , track, and articulate the causes and effects of delaying events within complex project schedules.
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills are required , with a minimum proficiency of CEFR C1 level in both writing and speaking expected.
Additional language skills are considered an asset given the regional nature of the role.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across different jurisdictions and time zones.
Regional and occasional international travel to client offices or FTI offices may be required , along with flexibility to participate in early or late-hour meetings to accommodate cross-regional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in Primavera P6 is essential; familiarity with MS Project or other planning tools is an advantage.
Familiarity with standard form contracts, particularly Extension of Time provisions, is advantageous .
Exposure to the SCL Protocol and AACEI Guidelines is desirable.
