About the role
Job Summary
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Tool Design Engineer to design and develop tooling solutions for electrical and electromechanical products. The role involves complete tool development, from concept design and prototype support to tooling validation, production release, and continuous product improvement. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in tool design, manufacturing processes, and 3D CAD software.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop injection molding, compression molding, stamping, forming, bending, and die-casting tools.
Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
Design components, tooling, and assemblies for electrical and electromechanical products.
Support new product development through concept design, prototyping, testing, and validation.
Coordinate with vendors for prototype manufacturing, tooling trials, and design modifications.
Improve existing tools and products based on manufacturing feedback, quality issues, and customer requirements.
Conduct design reviews, testing, and validation to ensure product performance and reliability.
Analyze manufacturing feasibility and recommend cost-effective design improvements.
Prepare engineering documentation, BOMs, design specifications, and technical reports.
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and cross-functional engineering teams for successful product launches.
Provide technical support during production and participate in continuous product improvement initiatives.
Ensure designs comply with company standards, quality requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Tool Design.
5–6+ years of experience in tool design and product development.
Strong knowledge of injection molds, compression molds, press tools, sheet metal tools, forming tools, bending tools, and die-casting tools.
Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD software.
Good understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling methods, and material selection.
Experience with engineering plastics, sheet metal components, and metal parts.
Knowledge of product testing, design validation, GD&T, and DFM/DFA principles.
Familiarity with quality systems and continuous improvement methodologies such as ISO standards, Six Sigma, and Poka-Yoke.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Experience in electrical, switchgear, controlgear, or electromechanical product development.
Exposure to product certification, tooling validation, and compliance standards.
Experience working in manufacturing or multinational organizations.
Proactive mindset with a focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement.
Working Hours
Full-time position
Monday to Friday
Occasional weekend or extended-hour support based on project requirements.
Travel
Limited travel may be required for vendor development, tooling trials, product validation, and project-related activities.
Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,100,000.00 per year
