PACCAR India is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Pune for Global PPD RMI.

As a Mechanical Engineer at PACCAR, you will leverage your expertise role involving BOM analysis, VMRS code classification, and the validation of Kenworth and Peterbilt parts and assemblies using engineering drawings, product structures, and technical documentation. Strong mechanical engineering expertise, along with excellent automotive product data interpretation skills, is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

Review and map automotive Bills of Materials, ensuring that parts, subassemblies, and assemblies are correctly positioned within the product structure.

Validate BOM hierarchy, parent-child relationships, part descriptions, quantities, units of measurement, assembly levels, and vehicle applicability.

Assign and verify appropriate VMRS system, assembly, and component codes based on each part’s function, design, mounting location, and application.

Verify Kenworth and Peterbilt part numbers, descriptions, specifications, model applicability, variants, interchangeability, supersession, and assembly relationships.

Analyze engineering drawings, exploded views, parts lists, specifications, and technical documents to validate individual components, service parts, kits, subassemblies, and complete assemblies.

Validate parts and assemblies across major truck systems, including chassis, cab, suspension, steering, braking, powertrain, transmission, cooling, fuel, exhaust, electrical, wheel, hub, and axle systems.

Maintain BOM mapping sheets, VMRS records, quality documents, progress trackers, technical-query logs, and revision-controlled project documentation.

Raise and resolve technical queries with relevant project stakeholders.

Plan and complete assigned activities within project timelines, provide regular status updates, communicate delivery or data-quality risks, and support the training of new team members.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering.

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

1–4 years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, with truck domain experience being an added advantage.

Knowledge of BOM structures, BOM hierarchy, and parent-child relationships within assemblies.

Understanding of automotive parts, mechanical assemblies, commercial vehicles, and VMRS classification.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, exploded views, part numbers, and product data.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analysis, quality checking, revision control, and technical reporting.

Working knowledge of Windchill and Creo View is required for product-data review and engineering document validation.
