The General Services Department (GSD) plays a critical role in supporting state government operations across New Mexico by providing essential services and resources. Within GSD, the Administrative Services Division (ASD) ensures efficient and effective financial management of both enterprise and general fund operations. Why does the job exist?
This position serves as the General Ledger and Capital Assets Manager for the Administrative Services Division and is responsible for maintaining accurate financial accounting records for the General Services Department (GSD). The position oversees the accounting and reporting of fixed and capital assets and ensures the proper management of assets assigned to GSD. The position works closely with leadership to develop, implement, and maintain accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures in accordance with State statutes, the New Mexico Administrative Code, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) standards
How does it get done?
Manage and oversee the operations of the General Ledger and Capital Assets Bureau.
Monitor and analyze financial activities for GSD¿s six divisions and six risk funds; prepare fiscal analyses, reports, and supporting documentation, including resolutions and ordinances as required.
Develop and implement a comprehensive program for managing the Department's fixed assets to ensure proper valuation, accountability, and risk mitigation.
Establish and maintain an inclusive fixed asset inventory system that coordinates multi-department holdings and ensures compliance with reporting requirements.
Analyze general ledger transactions to ensure proper recording, identify and resolve discrepancies, and implement effective

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or Business Administration and four (4) years directly related work experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports, and conducting financial audits. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Work extended hours and occasional travel may be required. Sitting/Standing, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching for extended periods of time may be required.
