What you'll do:
As a key member of the financial reporting team, the SEC Reporting Accountant/Senior Accountant will assist with SEC filings of 10-Q, 10-K, 11-K, Annual Reports, Proxy, press releases and other internal reporting. You will learn reporting processes at Viasat, new accounting pronouncements as well as learn and implement accounting policies. You will help establish new procedures to improve, automate and reduce closing and reporting cycles. You will take ownership of activities including general on-going accounting, reporting and analysis as it relates to primary responsibilities and special assignments.
The day-to-day:
You will learn and prepare the stock compensation valuations and journal entries, related-party disclosures, review XBRL tagging, prepare segment reporting, assess disclosure requirements, participate in internal reporting to executive management, etc. You may also coordinate internal and external (10Q / 10K) quarterly reporting deliverables and requirements, perform/review equity related balance sheet account reconciliations, contribute to/prepare certain balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, maintain process documentation supporting key functions, and provide audit and SOX 404 testing support.
This is a hybrid, site-based role that offers the perfect blend of office collaboration and remote flexibility. Employees will work from our Carlsbad office at least 3 days (60%) per week within a standard five-day workweek, with the remaining days worked remotely.
What you'll need:
2-4 years related experience in accounting and/or with SEC filings (10-Q and 10K).
Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Accounting Preferred)
Basic to solid understanding of GAAP, financial statements and accounting theory
Highly organized, detail oriented and driven individual, who is a fast learner and has propensity to grow within the organization.
Self-directed, self-review skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, analytical skills, works well in a team environment.
U.S. Citizenship is required
What will help you on the job:
1-3 years of Big 4 public accounting firm experience.
ERP system (Oracle preferred) and Blackline experience a plus.
Compensation
This Finance role pays $79k-$147k/yr. Within typical range for finance roles in United States.
