Role Description:
Join the Hunter Class Frigate Training Team and play a key role in supporting one of Australia’s most significant Defence programs. Working in a specialised seamanship training environment, you’ll help design and develop innovative training solutions that prepare Defence personnel to operate and maintain next-generation naval capability.
As part of the Whole of Ship Training Team, you’ll deliver technical training analysis, design, development, and implementation activities that directly contribute to mission readiness and operational success.
Core Duties:
Conduct training feasibility analysis and apply instructional design principles to support program requirements
Develop technical training curriculum, technology-based training solutions and training documentation in accordance with applicable standards, including safety and regulatory requirements
Conduct user testing, validate training designs and resources, and review training products for accuracy, quality and consistency
Prepare training products for delivery in accordance with the approved schedule and ensure supporting data is available to meet contractual requirements
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, communicate issues objectively and professionally, and participate in approved external customer forums where required.
Participate in regular and ad hoc team meetings and report assigned work package progress to the HCF ILS Training Lead (Whole of ship)
Seek and share good practice, contribute to process and plan development, and support continuous improvement initiatives across training design activities.
Complete annual PDR requirements within agreed timeframes and participate in performance discussions
Represent the HCF ILS Training Lead (Whole of ship) at meetings or working groups when directed
Apply experience using Microsoft Office tools to support training development, documentation, reporting and stakeholder communication activities
Key Criteria:
Extensive Defence, (Royal Australian Navy) as a Boatswain/Boatswain’s Mate or similar – speciality experience within the Seamanship/maritime domain
Defence clearance
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Technical training experience in seamanship evolutions and maritime warfare operations, Boatswain’s Mate experience as a Leading Seaman, Petty Officer, or Chief Petty Officer
Practical application of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL), or the Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate (ADDIE) model
Experience operating within the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTO) under the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Quality Framework
Understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or Integrated Product Support (IPS) programs
Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS) to support training design, development and delivery
Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
