Senior Developer / AI Engineer | Manager
Skills
About the role
Tech Hub enables our businesses to achieve their technology-driven goals. The work undertaken in Tech Hub covers a range of areas from leading and supporting the company through to the build or adoption of new technology, to protecting against risk, and delivering valuable data insights that transform our technology capabilities. As a Senior Developer / AI Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of both the front-end and back-end components of our applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
Why PwC?
At PwC Australia, your skills meet purpose. We tackle big challenges across industries like finance, technology, energy, and health - giving you the chance to make a real impact. Here, your growth is our priority. You’ll work with leading teams, explore new technologies, and unlock your full potential.
Join a global community of more than 370,000 people who value bold ideas, collaboration, and lasting change. Together, we’re building trust and shaping the future.
What you’ll do:
Assist in the design, construction, and deployment of production-grade AI solutions, focusing on Generative AI and basic agentic workflows.
Support the implementation of cloud-native AI systems, gaining proficiency with LLMOps/DevOps pipelines, ensuring scalability and reliability.
Participate in the evaluation and fine-tuning of AI models, utilising open-source tools.
Communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, fostering understanding and collaboration.
What we’re looking for:
We describe this role by the judgment and behavior we expect rather than by years of experience - it reads the same whether you join early-career or as a staff-level generalist.
A T-shaped generalist. You can move fluidly between technical design, code review, test strategy, and infra decisions, and you are willing to engage with product intent rather than waiting for a fully-specified ticket.
Strong technical judgment. You can read a spec, identify the load-bearing decisions, weigh alternatives, and defend an architecture.
Comfort delegating to and verifying AI agents. You treat prompting as precise delegation and you take ownership of verifying agent output - you do not rubber-stamp it.
Fluency with specs and reviews. You can read and write clear Markdown specs and designs, and give substantive review feedback on specs, code, and tests.
Collective ownership. You review others' work, accept review on your own, and reject the "that's not my role" reflex.
A bias toward clarity over haste. You understand that a clear spec produces correct code faster than a vague one produces rework.
Tech Stack
Backend: .NET / C#, ASP.NET Core, the Microsoft Agent Framework (MAF), OpenAPI emission.
Frontend: Next.js, ShadCN, Tailwind, TypeScript.
Data: Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Azure Cosmos DB.
Cloud & platform: Azure Foundry Agent Service, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Azure Container Registry, VNet, SignalR, OpenTelemetry.
Tooling & process: Nx monorepo, GitHub Actions CI/CD, Cursor as the IDE, trunk-based development.
You do not need to know all of these on day one. We favor AI-friendly, well-documented technologies precisely because they are learnable, and the monorepo gives agents (and you) the context to ramp quickly.
Desirable skills
Polyglot experience across .NET/C# and TypeScript.
Hands-on Azure experience (Entra ID, Cosmos, PostgreSQL, container/agent hosting).
Experience with agentic / LLM tooling and prompting workflows.
Monorepo tooling experience (Nx, or comparable like Turborepo/Bazel).
A background in spec-first, RFC-driven, or design-doc-led engineering cultures.
Don't meet every requirement? We encourage you to apply. We value all forms of experience that may be transferrable and relevant.
What you’ll gain:
The opportunity to work with leading organisations and cutting-edge technology that challenge and your expertise.
Work within an inclusive environment committed to Inclusion and Diversity and First Nations Prosperity, ensuring diverse perspectives are at the forefront of our work.
Flexibility means trusting you to choose when, where, and how you work balancing what’s best for you, your team, and your clients to grow and thrive together.
Clear paths for career progression supported by continuous learning and leadership development.
Generous leave entitlements to support your work-life balance - including floating public holidays, birthday leave and ability to purchase additional leave on top of your four weeks.
A world-class parental leave policy offering up to 26 weeks of leave for caregivers, supporting your family and personal life.
We know that perks are as important as your financial rewards. Explore all the benefits that PwC has to offer here.
