Principal Software Engineer

Description

Devise or modify procedures to solve technical problems.

Responsible for system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Lead and direct the work of team members.

Develop component design and develop system or application architecture.

Develop maintainable or scalable, effective, defect free source code that meets business requirements and team standards. Identify and implement appropriate continuous improvement opportunities.

Conduct unit test case development. May mentor junior team members.

Telecommuting permitted up to 40%.

Qualifications

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any) or related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or in a Principal Software Engineer-related occupation.

Position requires demonstrable experience in the following:

Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.

Troubleshoot complex IT issues for new products including modeling refresh launched to handle online and batch specific transactions.

Lead design reviews, produce clear architectural artifacts, and articulate technical trade offs to both technical and non technical audiences.

Provide mentorship, support, and guidance to junior engineers through 1-1s and pair programming.

Build and iterate software prototypes under tight deadlines.

Both heads down coding time as well as active participation in product design, demonstration, testing and support.

Experience may be gained during graduate program.

Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
