Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Champions continuous improvement initiatives such cycle time, scrap, downtime and manpower reduction through welding, assembly, hot & cold stamping during the manufacturing of steel and aluminum assemblies. Champion the design, build, and development of assembly processes and tooling required. Manage launch activities, engineering changes and VAVE activities. Support quality fast response meetings and trouble shoot production issues on the line. Be able to update and create PFMEA’s, process flows, work instructions and understand the product GD&T.

Salary Range: $92,000 - $102,000

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Engineering Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

Minimum Five (5) years related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industry

Able to read and interpret CAD drawings, experience with AutoCAD

Experience with CAD tools (AutoCAD, NX, Catia, Solidworks) is required.

Experience in project management and cost/quote development is an asset.

Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, and DOE

Knowledge of MIG and spot welding steel and aluminum an asset

Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Appropriate presentation skills for customer interface

Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Handles medium size projects from inception to completion with moderate follow-up by leadership. Timing, concept, feasibility, design, construction, try-out, launch, final buy-off (PPAP and run at rate), prototype programs, and engineering changes.

Conducts appropriate Manpower efficiency studies – through time and motion studies or standard data. Line balancing manpower, machine charts and analysis

Prepare reports, charts and other documentation required for engineering records and projects

Works with all departments and customers to design solutions that improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety and maintenance related issues

Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility

Assists in developing material handling logistics (i.e. - Aisle layout, bin placement, dunnage assists, etc.)

Follow-up of new tooling programs to contain costs, timing and quality requirements through all phases including prototype, die construction, tool prove out, buy-off and program launch.

Supervises equipment relocation and installation to Karmax.

Assists in resolving quality concerns and identifying root cause.

Reviews, co-ordinates and implements customer initiated approved engineering changes.

Develop and update 2D AutoCAD layouts to support factory planning and project execution.

Utilize PLC programming knowledge to configure, modify, and optimize automated equipment controls and processes.

Supports our new business quoting process.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with minimal supervision.

Ensure that he/she is in full compliance of the laws of Ontario and/or any other location while representing Karmax during the use of any Karmax provided equipment.

Work within the guidelines of the Karmax handbook.

Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety.

IATF16949 and ISO14001 awareness and adherence.

Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines.

Responsible for good housekeeping in your area

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to travel internationally on occasion for customer related concerns or launch activity.

Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant

Must be able to work outside of normal office hours to meet needs of assigned departments of responsibility with a Minimum amount of Supervision

Lifting up to 20 kgs

Exposed periodically to elements such as temperature and noise

Office environment within a manufacturing operation
