We are seeking a motivated, safety-focused Mobile Plant Technician to support aviation fuel storage and distribution facilities across multiple airport locations throughout the UK.
This is a mobile role requiring regular travel between sites to undertake planned maintenance, inspections, fault finding, compliance activities, and operational support on fuel storage and handling equipment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity, reliability, and safety of critical aviation fuel infrastructure that supports airport operations nationwide.
Working within a highly regulated, safety-critical environment, you will ensure equipment and systems remain compliant, operational, and fit for purpose while providing technical support to operational teams across the network.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Mobile Plant Technician, you will play an important role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of aviation fuel systems across multiple airport locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on aviation fuel storage and distribution equipment.
Inspect, test, and maintain pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, filtration systems, and associated plant equipment.
Support the maintenance and testing of critical safety devices and control systems.
Conduct routine inspections of fuel storage tanks, bunds, and associated infrastructure.
Diagnose equipment faults and coordinate repairs where required.
Support calibration and testing activities for operational and safety-critical equipment.
Complete maintenance records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation accurately and on time.
Assist with integrity inspections and engineering improvement projects.
Support contractors working on site and ensure compliance with company safety requirements.
Participate in emergency response activities and provide technical support during operational incidents.
Work closely with airport operational teams and site management to minimise disruption to fuel operations.
Promote continuous improvement, excellent housekeeping standards, and engineering best practice across all locations.
Participate in site inspections and audits.
No two days are the same. You'll have the opportunity to work across multiple airports and gain experience on a wide range of specialist equipment and systems.
What We're Looking For
Essential
Experience in a maintenance, engineering, mechanical, or plant technician role
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities
Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
Full UK driving licence
Good communication and reporting skills
Willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays
Desirable
Experience within aviation, fuel storage, oil & gas, petrochemical, logistics, or other regulated industrial environments
Knowledge of pumps, valves, filtration systems, pipelines, or transfer equipment
Electrical or instrumentation experience
Mechanical apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification
IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely, or similar accreditation
Familiarity with safety-critical systems and emergency shutdown equipment
