About the role

kiutra

Do you want to shape the future as part of a diverse, international team in a fast-growing, deep-tech company? Then read on!

At kiutra, we contribute to the development and application of quantum technologies by offering innovative and sustainable cooling solutions based on our unique magnetic cooling technology.

To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Cryo Engineer (f/m/d) who is eager to drive the development of our magnetic cooling systems for applied quantum technologies – from simulation through hardware prototyping to production readiness.

Responsibilities

You support research and development activities on magnetic refrigeration for applied quantum technologies, with a focus on quantum computing

You plan, coordinate, and support the development and fabrication of hardware prototypes and their key components

You actively contribute to FEM simulations analyzing the mechanical, thermal, and magnetic properties of the systems

You create CAD models of new systems, iterate them across development stages, and bring them to production readiness

You create, maintain, and update technical documentation for prototypes and systems

You ensure that assigned tasks and work packages are completed within agreed timelines

You regularly report on development progress internally and to funding agencies if applicable

You are responsible for quality control and release processes within the PLM system, ensuring that hardware, documentation, and bills of materials comply with defined quality and release standards

Requirements

PhD or a completed Master's degree with 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field

Hands-on experience in cryogenic engineering (e.g. ADR, dilution refrigerators, pulse tube coolers) and/or in applied quantum technology (e.g. quantum computing hardware), including the relevant mechanical, thermal, and magnetic design aspects

Proficient with CAD software for designing and iterating mechanical assemblies through to production readiness

Experience with FEM simulation tools (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL) for mechanical, thermal, and/or magnetic analysis

Ideally, experience with PLM systems and with quality control and release processes in a hardware development environment

Structured, self-driven way of working – you keep track of multiple parallel work packages and timelines

Fluent English, particularly for engaging with international partners and funding agencies; German language skills are a plus. On-site presence in Munich

Benefits

You will enjoy flexibility with options for remote work and flexible working hours

You will experience an open-minded, appreciative startup atmosphere with flat hierarchies and an open-door policy

You will work with a great team in a fast-growing deep-tech company

You can expect regular performance reviews and long-term job prospects

You can look forward to 30 vacation days per year

You will have the chance to participate in valuable employee surveys

You will work in a comfortable, bright and modern office with ergonomic equipment in compliance with health requirements

You can benefit from “The Coolest Connection”, our employee referral program

You will have the opportunity to get to know your team members better at our teambuilding events, Christmas parties, and other group events

You will have free cold and hot drinks, snacks, and fruit at your disposal

You can benefit from our company's pension plan, our bicycle leasing program (Jobrad), and contribution for the Deutschland-Ticket Jobticket
