What to Expect
Tesla's aerodynamics and aeroacoustics team seeks an aerodynamics tools engineer to develop simulation and analysis tools that support the creation of new products. The role involves collaborating with aerodynamics and HPC engineers to define requirements, build performant software tools, optimize methodologies, and advance analysis capabilities through CFD and related technologies.
What You'll Do
Working alongside aerodynamics and aeroacoustics engineers to identify and prioritize tools development opportunities
Setting up and validating CFD methodologies for a broad range of aerodynamics and aeroacoustics simulations
Acquiring and utilizing experimental test data to correlate and develop CFD methodologies
Developing workflows and automation to streamline simulation and improve productivity
Developing and managing aerodynamics databases
Maximizing aerodynamics data value and utilization through the development of data extraction and analysis tools
Utilizing and developing AI tools to optimize your own productivity as well as that of the team
What You'll Bring
Degree in Aerodynamics, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Expert knowledge of CFD and fluid dynamics fundamentals
Track record of CFD tools development
Familiarity with HPC systems and process automation
Proficiency in Java, Bash, Python and MATLAB
Ability to work towards challenging, dynamic goals with minimal supervision
Experience developing methodologies and workflows using RANS, LES, lattice-Boltzmann, Lagrangian multiphase, DEM, VOF and/or CHT

Expected Compensation
$114,000 - $239,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
