Job description A part-time position (15,2 -19,0hours) is available for a research technician in the research group of Kristin Grußmayer, Department of Bionanoscience, Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. Start date as soon as possible. The Grußmayer lab develops advanced 3D light microscopy methods to perform quantitative studies in live cells to answer fundamental questions in molecular and cell biology e.g., to understand neurodegenerative diseases. We combine label-free and super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, a set of techniques that circumvent the optical diffraction limit by clever experimental strategies and sophisticated image reconstruction. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping all wet lab activities running smoothly, maintain safety in the lab, and will be in charge of mammalian cell culture activities. This is a laboratory-based position, but the successful candidate will also be expected to coordinate . Applicants must be collaborative, diligent and well organized. In addition, they enjoy training other scientists, like working on varying activities and take pleasure in trouble-shooting. Main functions Managing wet lab activities (introduction of new group members, coordinating safety, ordering and inventory and contact with the safety officers) Keep well-documented records of the genetic resources available in the lab and keep track of experiment documentation in electronic lab notebooks Conduct and provide key support to cell culture and light microscopy experiments (e.g. optimizing immunistaining/labeling) Protein purification Culturing of immortalized cell lines Plasmid purification, cloning and optimization of transfection methods This is a laboratory-based position, but also involves coordinating documentation etc, to support ongoing work in the QScope ERC starting grant project and in EVOLF. Job requirements Essential requirements Experience with mammalian cell cultures Experience with fluorescence microscopy Demonstrated teamworking and trouble-shooting skills HBO/ B.Sc. degree or similar Proficiency in expressing yourself verbally and in writing in English It is a plus if you fulfill one (or more) of the following Knowledge of single-molecule, super-resolution or other advanced microscopy techniques Familiarity with stable cell line generation Familiarity with neurobiology/neurodegenerative disease TU Delft (Delft University of Technology) Working at TU Delft means contributing to solutions that really make a difference.
