Role Overview
The Duty Manager supports the Op's team in delivering exceptional operational performance, brand execution, and commercial results at Washhouse.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a premium, high-energy cocktail and entertainment venue. You will be responsible for ensuring the business delivers consistent service, strong financial performance, and a standout guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Service Delivery
Lead day-to-day operations across bar, floor, and entertainment
Ensure consistent delivery of service standards
Maintain strong control of service flow, particularly during peak trading
Oversee opening/closing procedures and compliance checks
Ensure venue standards (cleanliness, music, lighting, atmosphere) are always on brand
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team
Lead from the front during busy shifts
Drive performance through:
Upselling (premium spirits, doubles, cocktails)
Product knowledge
Energy and guest interaction
Manage rotas in line with labour targets
Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary procedures where required
Guest Experience & Brand Execution
Deliver a high-energy, theatrical guest experience
Ensure all team members understand and deliver the Washhouse brand
Actively manage the floor and resolve issues in real time
Drive key revenue moments:
Pre-theatre drinks
DJ-led nights
Bottomless brunch (launch phase)
Maintain a visible, engaging presence with guests
Financial Performance
Support delivery of revenue and profit targets
Drive sales through structured upselling and promotions
Maintain control over:
Labour %
Stock levels and wastage
Support stock takes, ordering, and supplier relationships
Use sales data to identify opportunities and improve performance
Compliance & Licensing
Ensure full compliance with licensing laws and company policies
Enforce Challenge 25 and responsible service standards
Maintain health & safety compliance
Work closely with door staff to ensure a safe and controlled environment
KPIs / Performance Measures
Weekly revenue vs target
Labour % vs revenue
Average spend per head (focus on premium + doubles)
Guest feedback and online reviews
Staff retention and development
Speed and efficiency of service
Person Specification
Essential Experience
Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory/management role within a bar or late-night venue
Experience in high-volume, fast-paced environments
Strong understanding of bar operations and service standards
Proven ability to lead teams during peak trading

Commercial awareness with a focus on driving revenue
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions
