This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead the newly created Governing Board Secretariat for Resources Safety & Health Queensland (RSHQ).

In a role that operates at the highest levels of the organisation, you will work closely with the Governing Board Chair, Board members, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Leadership Team to drive excellence in governance, strategic oversight and decision-making.

You will be the trusted adviser and central coordination point for Board and committee operations, ensuring the seamless flow of high-quality information, effective reporting and strong governance practices that support organisational performance and continuous improvement.

Leading a small team, you will bring a contemporary approach to governance, foster strong relationships across the organisation and confidently navigate sensitive and complex issues with professionalism, discretion and sound judgement. You will play a key role in connecting strategic priorities, enterprise risks and operational insights to support informed decision-making and practical implementation.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a highly capable governance and leadership professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can build credibility with senior executives, Board members and diverse stakeholders. You will be a strategic thinker with exceptional communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable advice.

The ideal candidate will bring:

Demonstrated experience supporting Boards, executive committees or governance functions.

Strong understanding of contemporary governance frameworks, risk and strategic planning processes.

Exceptional judgement, discretion and ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters.

Proven experience leading teams and driving high-quality outcomes through collaboration and continuous improvement.

Outstanding written communication skills, including the preparation of high-level briefing materials, Board papers and strategic advice.

The ability to influence, build partnerships and work effectively across all levels of an organisation.

Essential / desirable requirements

Degree qualifications in a relevant field will be highly regarded. Along with experience in secretariat services at an organisation-wide level.
