Clinical Nurse Consultant - REST (Rehabilitation Engagement & Safety Team)
About the role
Your new role:
As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you'll be a recognised clinical leader, providing expert nursing care, consultancy and guidance to support exceptional patient outcomes within Queensland Spinal Cord Injuries Service. You'll work collaboratively with nursing, allied health and psychology teams to drive evidence-based practice, support innovation and strengthen rehabilitation services.
In this role you will:
Provide advanced clinical leadership and expert nursing care within spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
Partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver person-centred, evidence-based care.
Support patients, families and staff through expert clinical consultancy and education.
Lead quality improvement, service development and clinical practice initiatives.
Mentor, coach and develop nursing staff while fostering a positive learning culture.
Collaborate with the Advanced Clinical Psychologist (REST) to improve patient engagement, minimise distress and support behavioural care strategies.
Drive research, innovation and continuous improvement to enhance rehabilitation outcomes.
About you:
You're an experienced Registered Nurse who is passionate about rehabilitation and enjoys leading others to deliver outstanding patient care. You bring advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership skills and a collaborative approach that inspires excellence across multidisciplinary teams.
You'll be successful if you have:
Extensive experience in spinal cord injury, rehabilitation or a related specialist clinical setting.
Advanced clinical judgement with the ability to manage complex patient care.
Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills that support team development.
Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement and innovation.
A passion for delivering compassionate, person-centred care and improving patient outcomes.

The Spinal Injuries Unit (SIU) provides inpatient specialist acute and rehabilitation management, in addition to outpatient services, for people with spinal cord injuries as part of the statewide Queensland Spinal Cord Injuries Service (QSCIS). Rehabilitation services are provided incorporating person-centred goal planning using an interdisciplinary professional team model.
