Your Opportunity:
The Service Worker I assists nursing staff in maintaining a hygienic, well-equipped and safe patient care environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: preparing and cleaning hemodialysis equipment for patient use, restocking all bedside supplies, transporting patients, water and blood specimens, sanitizing, charts and supplies as well as performing other duties as assigned includes instances of increased walking for set up within RAH site. This position is located at the RAH In-center Hemodialysis Unit. Open 6 days per week and closed on statutory holidays.
Description:
As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) required. Must be able to lift a maximum of 40lbs several times a day. High degree of motivation and good organizational skill required. Motivated team player with experience in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of plumbing required. Upon successful completion of the 5 training shifts, the service worker will be able to proceed to unit to start 5 buddy shifts as assigned by the hiring manager. Must meet weekly milestones to pass to the following week.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous training or recent Service Worker experience in a hospital setting is desirable. Familiarity with Fresenius hemodialysis equipment and supplies is an asset. Demonstrated good communication skills, able to read, write and speak English fluently. Demonstrated ability to work as a team, worker under supervision or independently. Current Service Worker in Alberta Kidney Care preferred.
Compensation
This Other role pays $22k/yr. Within typical range for other roles in Canada.
