About the role

Your Opportunity:

As a Physiotherapist II (Team Leader), you will coordinate physiotherapy and allied health services, providing advanced clinical expertise, leadership, and support within an interdisciplinary team. Working independently and collaboratively, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, making clinical decisions related to assessment, intervention, discharge planning, and follow-up. You will provide consultation on complex cases, promote evidence-informed practice, and ensure care aligns with Alberta legislation, professional standards, codes of ethics, and AHS policies and procedures. You will oversee daily team operations, monitor service delivery, support caseload management, conduct chart audits, and provide staff feedback to enhance quality improvement and patient safety. In collaboration with managers and healthcare providers, you will contribute to staffing, workflow, and service planning decisions to support efficient and effective care delivery. This role includes supervising, providing orientation and mentoring students, new staff, and team members, fostering professional growth, clinical excellence, and continuous learning. You will contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, operational planning, and committee work while applying strong clinical and operational problem-solving skills. As a clinical leader, you will help advance departmental priorities and promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and person-centred care. The current assignment is within the Specialized Rehabilitation Outpatient Program (SROP); however, assignments may change based on operational requirements.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in at least one of the clinical practice areas represented within the team, including experience providing rehabilitation services to adults with a variety of conditions. Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and clinical decision-making skills are required. Strong analytical, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities are essential. Excellent written, verbal, and computer skills are required. The successful candidate must be able to safely perform physical duties associated with the role, including lifts, transfers, repositioning, and other patient handling activities. This position may include a combination of team leadership, clinical practice, and clinic coordination responsibilities. Program area and assignment may change based on operational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care experience and familiarity with implementation science and tools are considered an asset. Previous exposure to Rehabilitation Technology such as the CAREN system, Bioness GO, NMES, Zero G are an asset.

Compensation
