POSITION SUMMARY

Descartes is a leading provider of Ocean Transportation Rate Management Systems and Ocean Publishing Services. The systems and services that Descartes supplies to VOCCs, NVOCCs, shippers, and other ocean intermediaries aid them in establishing and maintaining a global rate repository.

A Rate Management Services Team Manager is responsible for managing the conversion and maintenance of our customer’s global rate information. Our clients’ global rate information includes Detention and Demurrage, governing rule publications, calculable air/ocean BUY and SELL contracts, SPOT rates, and both regulated and non-regulated tariffs. The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry related work experience and a minimum of five years of management experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Position responsibilities are outlined below:

Managing the Rate Management team

Overseeing team operations

Managing work volume allocations

Mentoring team personnel

Counseling team members

Tracking KPIs

Fulfilling SLAs

Implementing performance improvement plans

Completing short- and long-term deadlines

Enforcing quality and performance standards

Resolving customer data related issues

Interpreting customer requirements

Conducting internal/external training

Completion of monthly billing reports

Providing a limited amount of account management support

Executing and maintaining project plans

Maintaining department standard operating procedures

Assisting with sales support

Requirements

Excellent clerical and organization skills

Strong leadership and management skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

Fluid in English (Verbal and written)

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Ability to work under pressure and fulfill short- and long-term deadlines.

Project management experience

Must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry related work experience.

Minimum of five years of management experience.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
