Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning and coordinating the accounting functions and related financial functions for Piedmont Healthcare's physician practice entities including the Piedmont Clinic. Has fiduciary responsibility to Senior Management and Piedmont Healthcare System for accurate and timely reporting of transactions in accordance with GAAP and for stewardship of resources. Directs employees providing accounting, financial, and operational information concerning activities for the physician practice entities and the Piedmont Clinic. Leverages significant knowledge, experience, and professional judgment to produce and analyze the financial results given the number and complexity of Piedmont's physician practice entities. Works collaboratively with entity Finance staff, department management, physician practice entity executives, and others in making decisions about financial status and future of all physician practice entities.

What you will do

Prepares, reviews, and posts journal entries relating to the assigned entities’ business. This may include, but is not limited to, accounting for revenue; contractual allowances and bad debt; allocations; leases; and other entries that require significant professional judgment and analyses.

Ensures the periodic reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts are performed in accordance with PHC policies and procedures.

Prepares month end financial statements and ad hoc reports covering the financial operation of the assigned entities. Prepares standard monthly financial review packet for the assigned entities and reviews the results with Senior Leadership.

Participates in the month-end financial close process including representing Corporate Finance in discussions with the assigned entities’ CFO, financial staff, and department leaders.

Performs senior-level professional accounting tasks including, but not limited to external and specialized audits, reconciling bank accounts, special accounts receivable and payable billings.

Coordinates, completes, and maintains information for governmental, industry, and regulatory filings.

Coordinates and participates in preparing work for both internal and external audit requests.

Understands the impact of the accounting activities, decisions, and accounting treatment on the financial information used by the organization.

Provides consultative, technical and decision-making support to management and supervision regarding financial and/or operational improvement and program development in departments in the entities.

Maintains key relationships with entity Finance staff to ensure integration and alignment with policies, procedures, and strategies.

Assists entity Finance staff as needed and coordinates communication between various departments at the corporate and/or entity level relating to financial issues or financial systems.

Assists in the development and implementation of new financial reporting and analytical tools coordinating efforts across functional areas (e.g. Supply Chain, Information Services, H/R, Solution Center, etc.)

Assists with the implementation and integration of new physician practices.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management, or a business-related field Required

Master’s Degree in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance Preferred

5 years of progressive work experience in a Finance role, preferably in a multi-entity healthcare provider environment. Required

Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing at all levels within the organization.

Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Preferred
