Location: Pune (Hybrid – 4 Days Work from Office, 1 Day Work from Home)
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Firmware Engineer to lead and grow our Embedded Hardware and Embedded Firmware teams. This is a highly technical leadership role where you'll drive architecture, mentor engineers, solve complex technical challenges, and actively contribute to firmware development, hardware design reviews, and system debugging.
This is not a pure people management role. We are looking for someone who still writes embedded C code, participates in design reviews, performs debugging, and leads engineering excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership
Own embedded hardware and firmware architecture.
Define technology roadmaps for MCU/SoC platforms, RTOS, firmware frameworks, and development tools.
Drive hardware-software partitioning and architecture decisions.
Lead technical reviews, root cause analysis, and cross-functional problem solving.
Firmware Development
Design and develop embedded firmware using Embedded C.
Develop low-level drivers, bootloaders, RTOS-based firmware, and communication stacks.
Perform code reviews and mentor firmware engineers.
Implement secure firmware update mechanisms and secure boot concepts.
Hardware Leadership
Review embedded hardware schematics and PCB layouts.
Guide MCU/SoC interface design, power management, analog/digital circuitry, and component selection.
Support hardware bring-up, prototype validation, EMC/EMI troubleshooting, and reliability improvements.
System Integration
Collaborate with Controls, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Functional Safety, and Cybersecurity teams.
Support product verification, customer escalations, certifications, and system validation.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a team of 4–6 engineers.
Drive engineering best practices, design reviews, documentation, and quality processes.
Support hiring, onboarding, and capability development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in:
Electrical Engineering
Electronics Engineering
Computer Engineering
Mechatronics
Or related field
12+ years of Embedded Systems experience.
Mandatory Skills Firmware
Strong Embedded C programming
RTOS or Bare Metal firmware development
Bootloader development
Firmware update mechanisms
JTAG/SWD debugging
Hands-on firmware design and code reviews
Hardware
MCU/SoC hardware design
Analog & Digital circuit understanding
PCB layout review
EMC/EMI debugging
Power management
Hands-on lab experience with Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, and debugging tools
Industrial Communication
Experience with one or more:
EtherCAT
CAN
PROFINET
IO-Link
Domain Experience (Mandatory)
Experience in one or more of:

We're looking for professionals who are currently working as:
Lead Firmware Engineer

Technical Manager (recently promoted and still hands-on)
You should:
Be actively writing Embedded C code.
Lead architecture and design reviews.
Manage a team of 4–6 engineers.
Work closely with European or US customers/stakeholders.
Have approximately 70% Firmware and 30% Hardware expertise.

Candidate Requirements
