Job Description

At U.S. Bank, we are committed to helping our customers and communities thrive. We are seeking a strategic, influential, and results-oriented Senior Agilist to drive Agile transformation, delivery excellence, and organizational effectiveness across complex business and technology initiatives within Payments.

This role goes beyond traditional Scrum Master responsibilities. The Senior Agilist serves as a trusted advisor, coach, facilitator, and change leader who helps teams, leaders, and organizations accelerate value delivery while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus, and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading Agile transformations, coaching leaders and teams, navigating complex organizational dynamics, improving cross-functional collaboration, and enabling strategic execution at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Leadership & Transformation

Lead Agile transformation initiatives that improve organizational agility, delivery predictability, and business outcomes.

Coach leaders, Product Managers, and delivery teams on Agile principles, Lean thinking, product-centric operating models, and continuous improvement.

Drive adoption and maturity of Agile practices across multiple teams, products, and organizational boundaries.

Foster an environment of accountability, transparency, innovation, and servant leadership.

Delivery Excellence

Partner with Product, Business, and Technology leaders to align strategic objectives with execution plans.

Facilitate quarterly planning, roadmap alignment, dependency management, and delivery synchronization activities.

Enable teams to optimize flow, reduce impediments, and improve value delivery.

Guide teams through backlog management, sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews, and outcome-based execution.

Organizational Coaching

Coach senior leaders on organizational design, Agile operating models, governance, and change adoption.

Identify organizational barriers impacting team performance and recommend sustainable solutions.

Facilitate workshops, planning sessions, leadership forums, and strategic alignment events.

Support leadership teams in defining and measuring objectives, outcomes, and success metrics.

Strategic Planning & Portfolio Management

Lead portfolio-level planning activities and support strategic execution across multiple initiatives.

Drive alignment between business priorities, product roadmaps, and delivery commitments.

Establish effective dependency management strategies across teams and organizational functions.

Collaborate with stakeholders to manage risks, assumptions, constraints, and execution challenges.

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

Develop and monitor Agile performance metrics, OKRs, flow metrics, and operational health indicators.

Utilize data-driven insights to identify improvement opportunities and increase delivery effectiveness.

Measure organizational maturity and guide continuous improvement initiatives.

Establish practices that create sustainable, high-performing teams and organizations.

Governance & Risk Management

Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Audit stakeholders to ensure delivery practices meet regulatory and governance expectations.

Simplify governance processes while maintaining appropriate oversight and controls.

Support evidence management, audit readiness, and operational risk mitigation efforts.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Build strong partnerships with executive leadership, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and business partners.

Influence without authority across highly matrixed environments.

Drive alignment among competing priorities while maintaining focus on customer and business outcomes.

Communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Basic Qualifications

Agile product development, agile coaching, agile portfolio management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFe, or other scaling methodologies.

Experience supporting product-centric operating models and customer-focused delivery practices.

Expertise in Agile portfolio management, dependency management, and strategic planning.

Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead executive workshops, planning events, and organizational alignment sessions.

Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Dragonboat, Mural, and related Agile planning platforms.

Proven ability to develop and leverage metrics, OKRs, flow measures, and performance indicators to drive decision-making.

Experience working within highly regulated environments, including financial services.

Agile certifications such as SPC, SAFe Program Consultant, SPC6, RTE, CST, CEC, PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent.

Location Expectations

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $133,365.00 - $156,900.00
