About the role

The Program Manager will:

Through research, and collaboration, plan, design and deliver programs that are relevant and empower K-12th grade youth participants to make life-enhancing decisions, develop self-esteem, and be active, contributing members of our community.

Ensure that program and activities meet quality, consistency, and safety guidelines and effectively emphasize contemporary issues, progression of skills, and leadership development.

Plan, organize and facilitate programs and youth committees that focus on youth skill building that is engaging, challenging and fun that are also relevant and appealing to the target age group.

Keep abreast of trends and issues affecting girls and youth, as well as GSUSA’s changes and requirements related to the program department and GSNorCal.

Advise and support volunteers to design and implement mission driven and strategic programming to our member community leading to measurable increases in membership growth and retention through implementation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, and National Program Portfolio.

Meet new girl recruitment and girl retention goals for all programs including program registration and participation goals.

Participate in Council’s functional teams and ad hoc committees as assigned.

Work effectively with Girl Scout members, volunteers, and members of the community, including community organizations to foster partnerships and program volunteer opportunities.

Create and maintain budget for programs and ensure prompt handling of all financial obligations.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills & Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in youth development.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and presentation skills.

Program curriculum development in various program pillars.

Program facilitation and classroom management

Virtual and In-person presentation and facilitation: Engaging K-12th grade girls and youth in learning activities and reflection

Versed in youth development and/or girl-specific programming

Good computer skills including proficiency in the most current versions of Windows and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and ability to use the Internet and to learn/use specialized or proprietary software.

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate, motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers from diverse backgrounds and all organizational levels.

Successful track record in a role that demands managing multiple projects and multi-tasking and prioritizing in a fast-paced, changing environment

Valid driver’s license and dependable vehicle required.

Desired Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish, or other language, and English

Knowledge of Girl Scout mission and programs

Remote work and/or office expectations:

Hybrid, required to work in office at least 2 days per week and at program sites as required.

Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. (boxes, materials, equipment)

Possess physical endurance including prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching
