What to Expect
As a member of the Autopilot AI Tooling team, you will design and implement a powerful, diverse set of tools that fuel our machine learning workflows and propel Robotaxi and Optimus forward. You’ll work side-by-side with some of the world’s best AI researchers and machine learning experts, driving Tesla’s mission toward a fully self-driving future.
The systems you build will have a direct, high-impact effect on our fleet’s ability to sense, perceive, and understand the world around it. Our tools automate the entire end-to-end workflows of training, validation, and production of Autopilot neural networks and Optimus - accelerating progress at a massive scale.
As an Engineer on the AI Tooling team, you’ll bring elite software engineering skills to make an immediate contribution to our critical tooling systems. Knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, or neural networks is a plus but not required. Strong candidates are either outstanding software generalists or exceptionally strong specialists in back-end or front-end engineering.
What You'll Do
Design and implement web-based tools for data visualization and data labeling
Work on our remote tele-op tool (live streaming video, audio and remotely controlling Robotaxis)
Work on visualizations of Autopilot clips (camera streams, vehicle signals, Autopilot predictions)
Work on our data annotation tools (segmentation, 3d spatial labelling, Digital Optimus)
Work on our management tools for our engineering fleet vehicles and test drivers
Work closely with data analysts to understand UX challenges and suggest improvements
Work closely with backend engineers to seamlessly integrate with frontend systems
Work closely with AI researchers to build efficient and intuitive UI that accelerate their workflows
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability
Strong understanding of JavaScript and React
Experience with 2d/3d graphics via OpenGL, WebGL, THREE.js or equivalent
Strong UI, design, and UX sensibilities
Proven record of delivering impactful UIs and features

Expected Compensation
$140,000 - $360,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
