The opportunity

We are seeking a Digital Experience Communication Manager to lead the redevelopment of our online presence and ensure it remains authoritative, discoverable and effective in a rapidly changing digital ecosystem.

In this role, you will define and deliver a future-focused digital experience, underpinned by structured content, strong governance and contemporary user experience design. You will also play a key leadership role in guiding the Communications team on emerging technologies, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

Your high-level duties will include:

Leading the strategy and future-state vision for CSIRO’s digital presence

Overseeing website transformation, including information architecture and content models

Embedding best-practice content strategy and enhancing digital discoverability

Advising on risks and opportunities relating to generative AI in communications

Monitoring emerging trends and driving continuous improvement

Partnering with internal stakeholders to deliver aligned, high-quality digital outcomes

Representing Communications in organisation-wide AI and digital initiatives

Supporting organisational change, including digital transformation activities

Role particulars

Location: Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra preferred, with other locations negotiable.

Salary: AU$135k - AU$158k pa + 15.4% superannuation

Tenure: Specified term of 2 years, Full-time

As the successful candidate, you will bring:

A relevant tertiary qualification and relevant experience in communications – public relations, marketing, digital, media or journalism.

Experience leading complex digital or website transformation initiatives.

Experience in content strategy, information architecture, and user-centred design.

Understanding of digital discoverability, including search and emerging AI-driven content interfaces.

Proactive approach and ability to build and maintain trusted, respected, and collaborative working relationships with colleagues and clients across a wide range of disciplines at all levels of the organisation.

Proven ability to operate strategically in an uncertain, evolving environment.

Experience working on governance frameworks and organisational standards.

Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, and leadership skills.

A history of demonstrated professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes in a collaborative environment.

Desirable

Knowledge of the content management system Sitecore, accessibility and online usability issues and opportunities.

Experience applying AI technologies in communications, digital, or content environments.
