About the role
What You Can Expect
As our Business Development I, you will support growth initiatives across our energy and infrastructure portfolio in North America. We are seeking a strategy and business development professional who will contribute to market-entry strategies, strategic partnerships, and executive-level initiatives, with a focus on the evolving energy landscape, including power, renewable energy, and innovation.
This position offers significant exposure to cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. The role will support transaction-level activities and contribute to decision-making related to investments, partnerships, and the organization’s long-term strategic positioning. This position sit in Houston, TX reporting to Head of Structuring Transactions.
Develop strategic expansion studies for new markets, technologies, and business lines
Provide insights on U.S. energy market dynamics and broad power sector trends
Conduct market research, competitive benchmarking, and financial analysis to support investment decisions and growth strategies
What You’ll Bring
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field. In lieu of a degree, we will accept three (3) years of hands-on experience
This is an entry-level position, and prior experience is not required. However, you will be expected to produce high-quality work related to strategy, consulting, business development, and the energy industry
You will gain exposure to energy markets, infrastructure, or industrial sectors
You are experience working with multinational environments or cross-border teams
You have the ability to prepare executive briefings and presentations that support high-impact strategic initiatives for senior leadership
You have experience identifying and supporting the development of strategic partnerships, alliances, and commercial opportunities across key markets, including ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO
You are comfortable engaging with clients, startups, and industry stakeholders to support business growth and innovation initiatives
You have the ability to contribute to deal origination efforts, including pipeline development and market-entry strategies.
You have experience partnering with sales, origination, and marketing teams to evaluate opportunities and analyze deal structures
You are knowledgeable in supporting solution-structuring activities across multiple opportunities
You have the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across ENGIE’s retail supply departments and other ENGIE business units to gather relevant inputs and support valuation frameworks
You are knowledgeable in analytical tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Python, and can use them to evaluate transactional risks and support data-driven decision-making
Additional Details
Eligible for a hybrid schedule consisting of in-office and work-from-home opportunities
Must be available to travel up to 5-10% of the time and with the need for some overnight trips
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Compensation
Salary Range: $69,500 – $106,490 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
