Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is the service that lets sellers worldwide leverage Amazon's world-class logistics infrastructure - storage, fulfillment, delivery, returns - as a service. Sellers from Fortune 50 companies to hundreds of thousands of small businesses in 135+ countries rely on FBA to grow and thrive. Today, FBA powers tens of billions in annual GMS across dozens of product categories.

But some of the largest, most valuable product categories remain structurally under-penetrated on FBA. Heavy and bulky goods, high-value electronics, multi-box furniture, and commercial B2B products represent hundreds of billions in addressable market - categories where customers and sellers want FBA but where seller economics, fulfillment architecture, and trust barriers have prevented adoption. These aren't emerging markets; they're established, proven segments where FBA's infrastructure hasn't yet caught up to demand.

We are building a team dedicated to solving these category-level structural barriers - redesigning fee architectures, building new fulfillment capabilities, closing cost-to-serve gaps against 3PLs, and earning seller trust at price points where every defect matters. This is a multi-year charter with leadership alignment, end-to-end ownership, and the mandate to work across organizational boundaries to deliver what no single team has been able to solve alone.

Key job responsibilities

As an SDE-3 on this team, you will be a technical leader who owns the design and delivery of systems at the intersection of seller economics, fulfillment infrastructure, and category-specific growth:

Design and build end-to-end systems that remove structural barriers to FBA adoption.

Own the technical architecture for your domain, balancing speed-to-market with long-term scalability across FBA's global footprint

Work across organizational boundaries - our charter includes alignment to make changes on partner teams' systems where needed to deliver the mission

Translate complex business problems (cost-to-serve optimization, supply chain defect reduction, category-specific seller economics) into clean, scalable technical solutions

Influence technical direction across the broader FBA platform by contributing design patterns, shared infrastructure, and experimentation frameworks that other teams adopt

Mentor engineers on the team and shape engineering culture as we grow

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Retail/e-commerce system design experience in a global context
