About the role
Position Summary:
The Cost Engineer will provide cost expertise for the EV Business Unit to support the achievement of optimal cost targets. This role involves researching current cost drivers and setting targets across the value chain for equipment, materials, and manufacturing. Additionally, the Cost Engineer will support market research and pursue plans to optimize the Astemo's manufacturing capabilities.
Essential Job Functions
Conduct cost analysis for manufacturing based on requests for new business opportunities and improvements to existing programs, ensuring competitive and optimized pricing.
Develop, maintain, and regularly update an internal cost database, including raw materials, labor, and other manufacturing inputs.
Co-lead Value Engineering/Cost (VEC) activities in collaboration with Business Unit Purchasing, including part preparation and supplier coordination/scheduling.
Create, maintain, and refine benchmarking templates to support cost comparison and analysis.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor/master’s degree in engineering, finance, operations, or data analytics
5-10 years of experience in Finance & Accounting (focused primarily in costing)
3 years of Experience in a Manufacturing Environment
