What to Expect

Tesla’s Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for BIW components development, part and process qualification activities, quality management, and continuous improvement activities at suppliers. The job requires effective communication at all levels both with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The goal: developing suppliers by teaching best practices for manufacturing, quality, and engineering, delivering on time quantities of high-quality BIW parts into Tesla’s production processes to enable extremely rapid development cycles and product launches, driving lean manufacturing principals to reduce waste and improve quality.

What You'll Do

Technical Expertise and Leadership:

Serve as the Supply Chain technical expert for supplier industrialization, providing hands-on guidance to resolve complex issues in Tesla's fast-paced environment.

Collaborate with Design, Purchasing, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to develop and qualify components, ensuring suppliers comply with Tesla's technical requirements and lean manufacturing principles.

Search out innovations for quality and cost optimization from the supply base and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback to internal stakeholders.

Lead major projects to success, acting as a fully responsible project manager, and coordinate activities of other employees as a coach and technical leader.

Validation and Qualification:

Lead supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet material performance, delivery, and reliability expectations for components.

Lead advanced quality planning (APQP) activities to ensure robust process development, risk mitigation, and alignment with Tesla's quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualify supplier new product introductions, including validation of PPAP submissions, process capability assessments, and launch readiness to support seamless integration into mass production.

Analysis and Problem Solving:

Perform data analysis and problem-solving on highly complex issues, including hands-on investigations, to accelerate resolutions and reduce disruptions in the supply chain.

Apply advanced statistical process control (SPC), geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and lean manufacturing techniques to enhance supplier performance, inform data-driven decisions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Project manage the supply chain scope at a global level, driving steps forward and continuous improvement on technical and cost reduction levels, while interpreting internal or external business challenges and recommending best practices.

What You'll Bring

BS Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience with exceptional ability)

1-2 years of experience in Supplier Industrialization, Quality, or Product Development Engineering

Comprehensive understanding of PPAP/APQP processes and automotive technical standards

Advanced knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and lean manufacturing principles

Excellent spoken and written English

Willingness to travel up to 50%, also on short notice

Strong understanding of different manufacturing process across the board in the automotive sector

High motivation paired with pro activeness to solve complex issues on your own

Ability to adapt quickly to different circumstances and personalities

Ability to work on multiple topics simultaneously and being able to set priorities on your own
