Software Development Manager, Risk and Compliance Solutions (RCS)

As a Software Development Manager in RCS, you will be managing technology teams to help innovate, build, and the tech solutions for Payments Regulatory Compliance domain. You will be directly responsible for defining and building the Signal Suite and its features for RCS Org. You will be working with a unique, talented, and gifted team developing new, exciting, high impact product for our customers. The team is a multidisciplinary group of engineers, analysts, and business people engaged in a fast-paced mission to deliver and maintain this new product by balancing technical invention, schedule, and performance, and regulatory requirements. You should be comfortable collaborating regularly with colleagues across many of Amazon’s regulatory compliance teams. To be successful, you need to be flexible and entrepreneurial, comfortable operating with ambiguity, and willing to develop quick proof of concepts. Come help us revolutionize RCS's Signal Suite!

Key job responsibilities

As a technical leader of the RCS Engineering Team:

You will be responsible for guiding your team through AI native design, development, testing, and deployment of RCS's own Signal Suite that automates the end-to-end payments regulatory compliance lifecycle activities.

You will recruit, hire, mentor, and coach Software Development Engineers at different levels of experience for the high-performing team.

You will help build the roadmaps for software teams, developing innovative customer experiences.

You will shape the Compliance software product by driving transformation across product development process, AI technology adoption for end-to-end product delivery, config-driven architecture for multi-tenant application.

You will derive mechanisms, and tools that shape the delivery and maintenance of the Signal Suite.

You will own all operational excellence metrics and support for your team’s software.

You will drive cross-team alignment with partner teams to ensure cohesive strategy and execution.

Risk and Compliance Solutions (RCS) serves as a crucial safeguard for Amazon's buyers, brands, and selling partners while ensuring business teams meet their regulatory obligations. Operating under the Three Lines of Defense (3LoD) model, RCS functions as the second line of defense, providing specialized oversight, monitoring, and expertise while setting policies and procedures that guide Amazon's compliance framework.

RCS's mission is to leverage specialist industry insights and Amazon's unique approach to scale through technology, delighting customers through tailored compliance solutions. Our work spans multiple critical areas, including:

Enabling Amazon's financial services expansion through streamlined license acquisition

Managing existing business risks across the organization

Delivering comprehensive governance, risk, and assurance services

Developing innovative solutions like Compliance as a Service (CaaS)

Transforming compliance operations into a proactive, intelligence-led framework

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of engineering team management experience

7+ years of engineering experience

8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale

Experience in operational excellence, security compliance, and distributed systems resiliency

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field

Experience working in risk, fraud or compliance organizations

Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team, or experience in computer architecture
