Junior Market Risk Analyst (Energy Trading)

The Position:

A global energy trading firm is seeking a sharp Junior Market Risk Analyst for their Singapore office. Sitting directly alongside commercial desks covering energy and liquid commodities, this role offers direct exposure to physical trading in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Working closely with senior risk management and traders, you will build a clear view of global energy markets as you handle daily mark-to-market calculations and P&L reporting across active portfolios. You’ll monitor open positions, track risk limits, and explain portfolio swings daily. You’ll also help stress-test trading strategies, keep forward curves accurate, ensure paper hedges are properly mapped, and automate routine risk processes to help the desk run efficiently.

Skills & Experience:

You will need 1 to 3 years of market risk or product control experience at a trading house, energy major, or financial institution. You should have a degree in a quantitative discipline like finance, mathematics, or engineering, together with a solid grasp of energy derivatives and physical pricing. Working knowledge of Python, SQL or VBA is a strong plus, alongside the confidence to communicate clearly with traders under pressure.
