About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Restaurant Manager to lead the overall operations of our Japanese restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily restaurant operations, leading and developing the team, driving sales and profitability, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience through outstanding Japanese hospitality and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the overall daily restaurant operations, including front-of-house service, staff performance and operational efficiency.
Lead, motivate and develop the restaurant team to achieve high standards of service, hospitality and professionalism.
Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth coordination between front-of-house and back-of-house operations.
Establish and maintain high standards of Japanese dining etiquette, hospitality and service excellence.
Drive sales and revenue through effective upselling of food, wine, sake and other beverages.
Develop strong product knowledge and provide recommendations on premium Japanese sake, wine and other beverages to enhance the guest experience.
Plan and execute wine-pairing experiences, sake tastings and special dining events where appropriate.
Manage staff scheduling, manpower planning and daily deployment to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
Monitor restaurant sales, labour costs, food costs and operating expenses to support profitability.
Oversee inventory management, stock control and cost-control initiatives.
Analyse sales and operational reports to identify business opportunities and areas for improvement.
Support the planning and execution of seasonal menus, promotions and marketing campaigns.
Build strong relationships with customers and enhance customer retention and loyalty.
Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, with cultural sensitivity and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, workplace safety requirements and other applicable regulations.
Conduct staff training, performance coaching and regular team briefings.
Assist senior management in developing business strategies and initiatives to grow the restaurant.
Required Competencies and Certifications
Professional Certificate or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 3–5 years of restaurant management experience , preferably in Japanese cuisine or premium dining.
Proven experience in managing restaurant operations and leading a team.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
Strong understanding of restaurant sales, labour management and cost control.
Preferred Competencies and Qualifications
Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, dining culture and hospitality standards.
Strong knowledge of wine and sake; WSET certification or relevant wine/sake qualifications will be highly valued.
Food safety certification is advantageous.
Experience in premium dining, Japanese restaurants or high-end hospitality is preferred.
Employment Details
Work Week: 5.5 days per week
Working Hours: Shift-based, including weekends and public holidays
