Quest Defense Systems & Solutions (QDSS) is seeking Software Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineers to support safety-critical flight control and avionics software development efforts for advanced vertical lift aircraft programs.
This role supports verification activities across multiple software modules and focuses on development, revision, and execution of requirements-based test artifacts in accordance with program Software Development Plans, Software Standards, and test guidelines. Engineers in this position will collaborate closely with system, software, and lab teams to ensure software functionality is verified against high-level requirements, with emphasis on schedule-driven milestones, traceability, and quality of verification deliverables.
This role is primarily remote, with 1 week onsite for onboarding in Fort Worth, TX. Some onsite presence may be required during integration or major test events. U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Upkeep of Aure Dev Ops (ADO) wiki test and procedure guidance documentation as they are refined during test documentation development
DOORs and MATLAB experience: Requirements, constants, and signal names are generated in MATLAB and DOORs tools, requiring some experience with navigating both tools to gather the necessary information to create and/or update C# test scripts and Word doc test procedures
Analyze test cases and draft Flight Control Computer software high-level verification procedures and C# scripts according to their test cases, standards, and the guidelines provided
Draft automated test scripts using VS Code on your desktop with a customer-provided extension to compile
Executing tests in system integration lab (SIL) environments
Executing and analyzing results from customer-provided results automation tool to verify results are accurate to the correct resolution of signal values and timing tolerances.
Identifying, communicating, documenting, and tracking discrepancies/test findings in Azure DevOps
Analyzing test results, time histories, and anomalies
Revising and reworking test scripts and test procedures to create a quality product for review
Operating using Azure DevOps (ADO) and git within an integrated, iterative development environment and responding rapidly to evolving requirements
Participating in peer reviews as needed and supporting comment resolution in close coordination with the reviewer for checklist closure
Updating Azure DevOps git repository with test scripts, procedures, and test results artifacts consistently and according to process
Working traceability updates within DOORs
Working with test facility personnel as tests are executed on the test bench and issues are found
Working in close coordination, when necessary, with the Software Development team to maintain alignment with evolving builds, requirements, and integration schedules
Coordinating with design engineers and SMEs to validate expected behavior and ensure coverage
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related technical field
Five 5+ years of experience performing requirements-based software verification and validation within structured or regulated development environments
Demonstrated experience supporting safety-critical software programs operating under DO-178B/C or equivalent aerospace, defense, or functional safety standards
Extensive experience developing and executing requirements-based test cases derived from system and high-level software requirements
Experience working in SIL, HIL, or integration laboratory environments supporting verification, regression testing, and anomaly resolution
Working knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink and/or MathWorks verification toolsets used in model-based development and automated test execution
Experience utilizing requirements and configuration management tools (e.g., DOORS, Git, Dimensions, ADO) within a controlled engineering workflow
Ability to interpret complex technical requirements and expected system behavior, ensuring complete verification coverage
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical documentation skills with demonstrated ability to identify, disposition, and communicate test findings
Ability to operate effectively within a multi-disciplinary engineering team while maintaining close coordination with Software Development teams to remain aligned with evolving builds, requirements, and release schedules
Eligibility to work as a U.S. Person
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting flight control systems, avionics, or embedded aerospace software development or verification activities, preferably within rotorcraft or advanced vertical lift programs
Prior experience supporting Bell flight control or avionics programs or demonstrated familiarity with Bell engineering processes and toolchains
Previous experience supporting DO-178 certification artifacts, audits, or SOI events
Experience developing scripts or automating test execution, including use of MATLAB, Simulink, Python, C#, or similar automation tools
Working knowledge of control laws, redundancy management architectures, or model-based development workflows
Experience supporting commercial or military aerospace programs, including participation in certification, audit, or formal verification activities
Experience in the adoption and/or integration of emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, digital assistants) into day-to-day operations for continuous improvement.

Compensation
This Software Engineer role pays $130k-$142k/yr. Within typical range for software engineer roles in United States.
