About the role

Purpose and Impact: Amentum is seeking a Expert-level Systems Engineer/Technical Project Manager to support its federal client in Northern VA.

The ideal candidate lead cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and deliver Amazon Web Services (AWS) initiatives - such as cloud migrations, data center modernizations, and infrastructure deployments

The candidate will use their expert knowledge of AWS Cloud Technology, agile framework, and client software development lifecycle to ensure adherence to project plans, schedules, and security requirements for systems authorization and accreditation.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

Essential Responsibilities:

Serves as primary backup to Program Manager and Technical Director

Making key architectural decisions, establishing technical standards, and ensuring scalability and security

Taking large features and breaking them down into actionable epics, stories, and tasks for developers

Making critical trade-offs between speed, technical quality, and product scope

Guiding the team through technical issues and challenges

Facilitate status meetings with team members and key stakeholders

Prepare weekly, monthly status reports, and presentations

Anticipating technical bottlenecks and mitigating risks before they disrupt schedule

Cross-functional collaboration with Program Manager, Technical Lead and development teams

Periodically support business capture and proposal activities

Develop technical roadmaps, briefings and project schedules

Promote knowledge sharing and foster innovation within the team

Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

Active TS/SCI Clearance with FS Poly

Strong knowledge of AWS CLOUD modernization and integration functions

Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Technology, or a related field

Experience in high-priority sectors such as DoD or intelligence community is strongly preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

Familiarity with scripting languages (C#, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript)

Have experience with DevOps

Have knowledge of CLOUD optimization

Strong command of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall project management methodologies, coupled with tools like Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint

Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-team communication abilities

Familiarity with modern software development practices/architectures

Excellent analytical, research, and presentation skills (including proposal writing)

Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders

Adaptability in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a bias toward experimentation and learning from pilots.

Security Clearance Required: TS/SCI (Ability and willingness to take poly)

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

Minimum Years of Experience: 5-8 Years. Hands-on experience with cloud environments, IT architecture, and AWS core services

Required Certifications:

AWS CLOUD Practitioner,

Certified Devops Engineer

Salary Range: $225,000 - $235,000

Compensation Details:

$200,000 - $220,000
