Could you be the UX Designer – Diagnostics in our Advanced & Creative Design Global (A&CD) team we’re looking for?

Responsibilities

Product Design & UX Execution

Lead end‑to‑end UX design for DIALOGS, focusing on diagnostic log exploration, troubleshooting workflows, event timelines, and error interpretation.

Translate technical and operational concepts into structured workflows, wireframes, interaction models, mockups, and hi‑fi prototypes.

Produce clear interaction specifications and design documentation for smooth collaboration with developers.

Communicate design decisions using user flows, diagrams, storyboards, and prototypes.

User‑Centered Design & Iteration

Understand how technicians and maintenance engineers interpret logs, identify root causes, and validate corrective actions.

Conduct usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and gather user feedback to drive iterative improvements.

Integrate operational constraints, product requirements, and usability insights to refine the product experience.

Design Systems & Consistency

Contribute to Alstom’s design system through reusable components, documentation, and pattern refinement.

Promote consistency across screens, interactions, and accessibility within the DIALOGS application.

Collaborate with engineering counterparts to ensure feasible and scalable component implementation.

Accessibility & UX Quality

Apply accessibility principles (WCAG standards) across all designs, ensuring inclusivity and clarity.

Identify potential usability risks early and help teams mitigate them.

Support internal reviews and quality checks to maintain high UX standards.

Diagnostics Analysis & Improvement

Review user workflows and identify friction points in troubleshooting and diagnostic interpretation.

Recommend improvements based on user behaviour, system patterns, and practical maintenance workflows.

Provide actionable insights to enhance efficiency, comprehension, and decision-making in DIALOGS.

Collaboration, Governance & Documentation

Work closely with cross‑functional teams to align product goals, technical feasibility, and design quality.

Contribute to standardized UX documentation, governance activities, and design rationale logs.

Advocate for scalable UX practices and systematic adoption of design principles.

Mandatory:

Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design or Design from design school / university or HCI or equivalent practical experience

6+ years of UX, interaction design, or digital product design experience.

A portfolio featuring complex workflows, data-heavy interfaces, interaction design, and problem-solving approaches (must include link or access instructions).

Experience designing for enterprise, operational, or analytical applications.

Excellent visual and interaction design capabilities with strong attention to detail.

Experience collaborating with Product Owners, Engineering, QA, Support, and data-oriented teams.

Strong communication and presentation skills, able to articulate design rationale clearly.

Desirable:

Experience working with early-stage or evolving products, including ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Ability to integrate cross-functional feedback and advocate for UX and user-centered design principles.

Interaction & UX Craft

Advanced interaction design skills for complex, data-rich, workflow-based applications.

Ability to simplify diagnostic logs, error messages, and technical data into intuitive experiences.

Strong grasp of information architecture, navigation modeling, and visual hierarchy.

Expertise in designing enterprise-grade usability: clarity, resilience, and predictability.

Ability to design for progressive disclosure, multi-step task flows, and high-density data layouts.

Systems Thinking & Design System Mindset

Strong understanding of design systems, reusable UI patterns, and scalable component libraries. Contribute to evolving design system.

Ability to identify cross-product UI patterns and drive consistency across teams.

Experience collaborating with engineering to evaluate feasibility and maintain implementation fidelity.

Accessibility & UX Quality

Solid working knowledge of WCAG 2.1/2.2, contrast standards, interaction states, and inclusive design.

Ability to identify UX risks early and guide improvements before development.

Experience conducting usability assessments and heuristic evaluations.

Analytical & Diagnostic Thinking

Comfortable interpreting logs, event sequences, system messages, and structured data formats.

Strong analytical mindset to evaluate friction, usage patterns, and adoption metrics.

Ability to translate diagnostic insights into UX adjustments and workflow optimizations.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

Strong communication and storytelling abilities to explain design decisions and options.

Experience coordinating with Product, Engineering, QA, and Support teams in enterprise environments.

Ability to operate autonomously as a senior individual contributor while driving alignment.

Professional Attributes

Proactive, structured, and improvement-oriented.

Skilled at managing ambiguity while maintaining clarity of direction.

Pragmatic, balancing UX aspirations with technical and delivery constraints.

Design & Prototyping

Figma (components, variants, tokens, auto-layout, prototyping).

FigJam or similar tools for journey mapping, IA, wireflows, and workshops.

Additional (Nice-to-Have)

Understanding of data-visualization logic (charts, timelines, patterns) for designing diagnostic UI.

Familiarity with structured data formats (JSON, event logs) to better empathize with troubleshooting workflows.

Exposure to user testing tools for remote usability studies
