Role Overview

The Commercial Support Executive & Proposals Engineer plays a key role in supporting the client engagement and commercial function by developing high-quality proposals, coordinating bid submissions, and providing commercial and administrative support throughout the sales and project lifecycle.

Working closely with client engagement, technical, delivery teams, the successful candidate will prepare compelling commercial and technical proposals that demonstrate the organisation's capabilities in enabling client manufacturing operations to access, adopt, and accelerate new digital technologies that drive future competitiveness.

The role requires excellent organisation, strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Proposal & Bid Management

Coordinate the preparation and submission of customer proposals, quotations, and tenders.

Liaise with the technical team to analyse customer requirements and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation.

Develop clear, accurate, and compelling proposal documents.

Coordinate technical inputs from engineering, software, and delivery teams.

Ensure proposals comply with customer specifications and commercial requirements.

Manage proposal timelines and submission deadlines.

Maintain proposal templates and bid documentation.

Commercial Support

Prepare quotations, pricing schedules, and commercial documentation.

Support contract reviews and commercial risk assessments.

Maintain opportunity records within the CRM system.

Assist with forecasting, pipeline reporting, and sales metrics.

Support customer onboarding and contract administration.

Coordinate internal approval processes for pricing and commercial

Customer Engagement

Act as a professional point of contact during the proposal process.

Clarify customer requirements where necessary.

Support client meetings and customer presentations.

Assist in responding to customer commercial and technical queries.

Sales Support

Work alongside Client Engagement Director to progress opportunities.

Continuous Improvement

Develop standard proposal templates and reusable content.

Identify opportunities to improve bid quality and efficiency.

Monitor win/loss feedback to improve future submissions.

Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes.

Key Skills and Competencies:

Essential

Experience in a commercial support, proposals, bid management, or sales support role.

Excellent written communication and document preparation skills.

Strong organisational and project coordination abilities.

High attention to detail.

Commercial awareness and analytical skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Experience using CRM systems.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable

Experience within manufacturing, industrial automation, digital transformation, or operational technology environments.

Understanding of engineering or industrial software solutions.

Experience preparing proposals.

Knowledge of procurement frameworks and bid processes.
