Job Description:

Reporting line: Direct report of Asia General Counsel, Global Markets & International Counsel

Stakeholders: India Country Leadership Team – comprising India Country Head, India Chief Operating Officer, India heads of Corporate Banking, Investment Banking and Capital Markets, Global Payment Services, FICC and Equities lines of business; and India heads of Compliance & Operational Risk, Risk, Finance, HR and Audit control functions.

Job Statement and Narrative:

Member of the India Country Leadership team. Based in Mumbai. In-country manager of India Legal Department. Responsible for providing/sourcing legal advice to support the conduct of onshore business activities and maintenance of related onshore operating and control frameworks.

BofA’s India franchise comprises Corporate Banking, Global Payment Services and FICC activities conducted in branches of Bank of America NA in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru); and Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Equities and FICC activities conducted via BofA Securities India Ltd. As a member of the India Country Leadership team and of the regional Legal Department, the India General Counsel will be called upon to coordinate legal support for these activities, related risk and operating frameworks and responses to any disputes or regulatory enquiries, via regional Legal Department product specialists and onshore external counsel, and in doing so balancing the needs of the firm’s regional/global franchise norms with those of the onshore competitive/operating environment.

Skills:

12+ years’ PQE

Indian legal qualification and onshore practising experience in supporting one or more of the abovementioned business activities

In-house experience at an international financial institution, or experience in supporting such institutions at an India law firm

Language proficiency: English (high professional level)
