About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator / Cloud Engineer to join our IT team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, Azure cloud infrastructure, and enterprise systems administration. You will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving our hybrid IT environment while ensuring high availability, security, and performance of critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, monitor, and support Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and on-premises environments.
Manage Microsoft Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft 365, Hyper-V, and enterprise IT systems.
Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure Virtual Machines and Azure SQL IaaS services.
Support Azure networking, including Virtual Networks (VNets), Peerings, Route Tables, NSGs, and ExpressRoute connectivity.
Configure and manage Azure Storage Accounts, Data Lakes, Key Vaults, and Azure Backup.
Maintain Azure App Services, including Web Apps, Function Apps, Logic Apps, and Application Configurations.
Monitor system health and performance using Application Insights and other monitoring tools.
Administer Application Gateways, API Management, Azure Front Door, and Enterprise Applications.
Manage App Registrations and identity integrations within Azure.
Perform system upgrades, patching, security hardening, backup, and disaster recovery activities.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, cloud, and system-related issues.
Collaborate with internal teams to implement scalable, secure, and reliable IT solutions.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5+ years' experience as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer within a medium-sized IT environment.
Minimum 2+ years' hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure cloud services.

Strong understanding of networking concepts, security, identity management, and cloud best practices.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced IT environment.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM Templates).
PowerShell scripting and automation.
Experience with Microsoft Defender, Intune, and Endpoint Manager.
Knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent).

Pay: $87,604.21 – $120,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Sydney NSW
Compensation
This DevOps / SRE role pays $88k-$120k/yr. Within typical range for devops / sre roles in Australia.
