About the role

DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to join our Infrastructure Operations (InfraOps) team. In this role, you will own the planning, execution, and delivery of technical programs that ensure the reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of our data center infrastructure. You will coordinate across engineering, operations, and business teams to define program scope, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and deliver measurable outcomes. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can navigate ambiguity, drive alignment across teams, and has a solid technical foundation in data center operations or infrastructure engineering.

Key job responsibilities

Program Delivery: Own end-to-end delivery of infrastructure programs from scoping through operational readiness, defining milestones and driving execution across multiple teams and sites.

Cross-Functional Coordination: Work with engineering, operations, commissioning, construction, and vendor teams to align priorities, surface blockers, and maintain accountability.

Operational Excellence: Champion operational excellence by establishing best practices and quality standards across program workstreams. Lead programs that enhance our safety, security, and availability culture. Drive root cause analysis, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and embed continuous improvement to reduce defects and increase reliability.

Risk & Dependency Management: Identify risks and critical-path dependencies early, develop mitigation plans, and escalate appropriately to keep programs on track.

Operational Readiness: Drive readiness checklists, milestone tracking, and launch reviews to ensure new infrastructure meets operational standards before handover.

Stakeholder Communication: Provide clear, timely program status updates to leadership and partners through reporting, dashboards, and review meetings.

Process & Mechanism Building: Develop repeatable mechanisms, runbooks, and templates that improve delivery consistency and raise the operational bar.

Technical Engagement: Maintain working knowledge of data center systems (power, cooling, network, mechanical) to engage effectively with engineers and support informed decision-making.

Vendor Coordination: Partner with vendors and contractors to track deliverables, manage timelines, and ensure quality standards are met.

Continuous Improvement: Conduct retrospectives, COE reviews, and post-launch assessments. Document lessons learned and drive corrective actions to improve future outcomes.
