Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Principle Systems Software Engineer to join our Joint Systems Capability team in Williamtown. In this role, you will contribute to the enhancement and sustainment of the Wakulda Air Battle Management System, a critical capability for Australian Defence.

Working within a high-performing engineering environment, you will collaborate closely with engineers, operations and customer stakeholders. This role is designed for an experienced systems engineer who excels at problem solving, developing fit for purpose solutions, influencing and coaching at the intersection of systems integration and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities include:

Resolving complex issues related to product integration and production anomalies.

Ensuring a clear understanding and/or facilitating the development engineering and technical requirements

Guiding the testing and validating of software solutions to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements.

Coaching others with writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and industry standards.

Coaching others with requirements verification

Communicating the status of complex engineering situations and deliverables

Developing and documenting solutions through drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data.

Developing and updating engineering change management artifacts.

Identifying, mitigating and manage technical risks

Occasional travel to Brisbane to access integration labs and/or for team planning sessions may be required.

Candidates for this role should be able to demonstrate:

A minimum of 8 years of experience in complex technical development and integration projects.

A minimum of 8 years professional experience in software development

Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and communicate with various stakeholders

Extensive experience in version control systems (eg., Bitbucket, Jenkins) and engineering change management

Strong Attention to detail when following, creating and reviewing documentation and code

Experience in the full engineering lifecycle

Strong coaching and mentoring skills in line with the abovementioned

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

This role supports an environment that has security considerations and is both Windows and Linux based, so virtualisation and networking knowledge would be advantageous. Experience with Ratheon Solipsys Multi-Source Correlator Tracker (MSCT) will also be highly regarded.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements and holding an existing NV1 is mandatory.
