Why does the job exist?
This position exists to support the Drinking Water Quality Bureau in the effective administration of its financial resources. The role ensures compliance with federal grants, special revenue, and general fund requirements by directly assisting the program with budget management, contract and procurement processes, payments, accounts receivable, and financial reconciliations. The position provides essential financial reporting and analysis to maintain fiscal accountability and align resources with the Bureau's mission and strategic objectives.
How does it get done?
Provide financial assistance to program staff
Prepare the annual appropriation request and operating budget for the DWB
Complete budget projections
Prepare various financial reports and reconciliations
Complete grant certifications
Conduct employee evaluations
Supervision of 2 Full Time Employees

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, economics, finance, or business administration and five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance, economics, and/or statistical analysis. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
