A leading financial institution is seeking a Portfolio Risk Manager to provide independent oversight of transaction-level and portfolio-level risks within their Global Securities Solutions (GSS) business in Asia Pacific. This newly created position offers you the opportunity to shape risk management practices for a diverse range of securities financing products, including equity collateral financing, credit collateral financing, and structured total return swaps. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring risks remain within appetite, supporting sustainable business growth through proactive monitoring and analysis, and contributing to the development of advanced risk management tools and frameworks. The organisation values flexibility, knowledge sharing, and cross-regional collaboration, offering you the chance to work with global teams and develop your expertise in a supportive environment. If you are passionate about quantitative analysis, stakeholder engagement, and building robust risk frameworks, this is an exceptional opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

This is a newly established role where you will have direct influence on shaping risk management standards and procedures across the Asia Pacific region, working closely with both local and global teams.

You will be responsible for overseeing a wide spectrum of securities financing products, engaging regularly with internal stakeholders such as Credit Management, FICO, and product partners as well as external agent banks and valuation providers.

The organisation offers flexible working opportunities, encourages professional growth through training initiatives, and fosters a collaborative culture that supports your development as a trusted expert in portfolio risk management.

What you'll do:

Provide independent oversight of transaction-level and portfolio-level risks across the GSS business in Asia Pacific by proactively monitoring credit and loan portfolios.

Enhance risk models, monitoring tools, and analytical frameworks to ensure effective identification and mitigation of risks within the business.

Oversee credit administration processes by maintaining archives of transaction information received from various sources including financials, compliance certificates, and valuation reports.

Monitor deal covenants and escalate issues in conjunction with Credit Management while validating agent calculations to ensure compliance with internal standards.

Conduct comprehensive risk analysis on received information to assess asset impact on collateral and financing structures.

Perform early warning indicator monitoring and escalation to address potential risk exposures promptly.

Engage with internal subject matter experts for opinions on complex transactions and perform transaction-specific rating reviews not covered by Credit Management.

Review GSS portfolio risk including concentration, correlation, stress testing on key risk drivers, and pipeline trades for marginal risk impact.

Design, prepare, and circulate transaction- and portfolio-level reporting materials for risk meetings such as Fund Forum or Quarterly Risk Review.

Support event-driven scenarios including collateral substitution requests, re-valuation of borrowing bases, verification of LTV triggers with agent banks or clients, enforcement actions during events of default, and liquidation processes.

What you bring:

To excel as Portfolio Risk Manager you will bring deep expertise in structured credit transactions spanning sponsor-backed deals and asset-backed lending. Your background should include significant experience - ideally over ten years - in second line-of-defence credit risk roles or portfolio management within structured finance environments. You are adept at leveraging advanced quantitative techniques to interpret intricate financial structures while utilising customer ratings methodologies alongside early warning indicator frameworks for comprehensive portfolio aggregation. Your interpersonal skills enable you to communicate complex risk insights clearly to senior leadership while fostering collaborative relationships across global teams. Academic credentials such as a bachelor’s degree in finance or related fields are essential; holding a CFA designation would further distinguish your profile. Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing credit administration is crucial as is your ability to develop enhanced analytics - including stress testing - for securities financing products. Your proficiency extends to designing departmental frameworks that harmonise regional product acceptance criteria with internal governance standards.
