Manager, Logistics Operations

Job Purpose

The Logistics Manager is responsible to lead and manage the logistics operations of the company. This includes end-to-end logistics from receiving to disposal and fulfilment of services to business units. He/ She will oversee receiving, dispatch, housekeeping, safety, inventory accuracy, maintenance of equipment and other logistics functions. He/ She is also responsible for managing logistics business resources, including finance, manpower, internal assets, and external vendors.

As part of the continuous improvement process, he/ she is required to review logistics policies, standards, and procedures, manages the processes of logistics solution business development, analysing, designing, and implementing end-to-end logistics solutions, in accordance to Supply Chain Management business and customers’ needs.

Analytical and logical, he/ she is required to manage resources and obtain buy-in from internal and external stakeholders. He is also expected to lead a branch and make business decisions independently. As a leader, he/ she is required to lead and provide mentoring to the Team members, maximising their development. While the primary location of work is in Bishan Depot, the Logistics Managers is expected to travel and responsible for the operation of all SMRT Warehouses.

Responsibilities

1. Drive Warehouse Operations

Plan end-to-end logistics and fulfilment services to business units within the company.

Plan and review warehouse storage and layout plans

Ensure safe operations and maintenance of all warehouse Material Handling Equipment e.g. Forklift, Reach Truckers, Stacker Cranes, lifting platforms etc.

Determine warehouse storage system strategy using knowledge of changes in conditions, operations and the environment and its impact to outcomes

Manage and review warehouse operations through application of supply chain and business management principles

Develop warehouse operations performance goals using quality management knowledge

Plan resource within business activities

Manage the performance level and ensure serviceability of warehouse equipment and storage systems e.g. Automatic Retrieval Systems, Vertical Carousels and racks

Responsible for accurate maintenance of stock and inventory records relating to stock issue, transfer, amendment, freight, and delivery

2. Drive Distribution Operations

Plans and review resources for transport, freight forwarding and reverse logistics execution

Develop plans and identify strategic priorities of each specific distribution nodes

Anticipate emerging distribution operations to determine future resource requirements

Communicate distribution operations data analysis to key stakeholders

Ensure timely distribution operation based on need-by date and forecast of needs with efficient use of resources

Formulate vehicle fleet management strategies across different plans

Manage performance of logistics partners (vendors, carriers, freight-forwarders, and port authorities) to ensure compliance and alignment with customer requirements and contractual obligations

3. Drive Logistics Solutioning

Manage and review logistics policies, standards, and operating procedures

Develop solutions to address gaps and weaknesses in supply chain operations

Improve supply chain program management plans

Lead development plans to implement innovative logistics solutions

Evaluate risk factors that impact efficiency

4. Drive Safety and Health Operations

Work with EHS officers in enforcing safety standards and procedures in promoting a safe work environment.

Drive WSH activities to ensure department's compliance to requirements

Lead WSH solutioning discussions around suggestions to improve existing processes

Manage safety and health risk assessment

Lead proactive changes based on WSH risk assessment reports to determine hazards

Influence behavioral changes to resolve areas of non-conformance to WSH standards

5. Drive Business Continuous Improvement

Review business processes improvement solutions to determine effectiveness

Formulate mitigating actions or contingency plans for risks associated with process changes

Motivate colleagues at organizational level to develop innovative solutions for driving change e.g. KAIZEN initiatives

6. Any other duties and or projects that may be assigned by Director/ Deputy Director Logistics.

Qualifications & Work Experience

At least a Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related fields preferred; or equivalent combination of work experience.

Familiar with SAP, Maximo, or equivalent Management Information Systems.
